On the occasion of Mother's Day, an interesting and socially relevant issue in today's era is the increasing number of “single mothers”. Statistics show that they may face some mental health challenges, especially among those who are separated, with 73.5% experiencing stress, 68.9% feeling sad and discouraged, and 62.9% feeling lonely and isolated. Nevertheless, single mothers can still support their families as the main pillars, even though it is not easy to overcome all challenges, including the decisions they must face alone in every situation. AIS, through AIS Cyber Safe as a digital partner, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, aims to be part of the encouragement for these mothers, especially single mothers, who sacrifice and dedicate their time and energy to raise their children to grow up to be good members of society.

Although society is becoming more accepting of single-parent families, it is also observed that online bullying, or cyberbullying, is becoming more severe. Therefore, to show support and gratitude to capable single mothers on National Mother's Day, AIS, through AIS Cyber Safe as a digital partner for all generations of Thais, expresses its commitment to continue the campaign to raise awareness about the violence of bullying or harassment online, collaborating with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to stop cyberbullying and online harassment behaviors, particularly among single mothers, under the concept “Standing Together with Understanding... We Support All Mothers.”

Ms. Saichon Supmakudom, Head of AIS Public Relations, stated that as a Digital Life Service Provider, we not only focus on providing products and services that benefit people but also prioritize safe online and internet usage alongside creative engagement. On National Mother's Day, we recognize the importance of mothers, who dedicate themselves to raising their children at all times and in every situation. However, mothers are also one of the groups that face bullying through words and insults online, especially single mothers, who are a vulnerable population. Therefore, we want to support single mothers who face obstacles and uphold families that deviate from societal ideals, to create strength among capable single mothers moving forward.

“The issue of cyberbullying has always been a priority for AIS Cyber Safe, and we have continuously worked on it. Today, we are collaborating with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, which has a mission to assist vulnerable groups such as children, women, single mothers, the elderly, people with disabilities, the homeless, and the disadvantaged in society. This partnership aims to provide guidance on how single mothers can cope with online bullying and offer encouragement to overcome challenges and improve the quality of life for Thai families,” Ms. Saichon said.

Merisa Yodmonthop, a family psychologist and owner of the page ‘Following the Psychologist’s Advice’, stated that raising a child in a constantly changing society is a significant challenge for parents today. For single mothers, this challenge is even greater, as raising a child alone requires much more physical and emotional strength. Single mothers need social support, including encouragement, understanding, and various forms of assistance, as this support is crucial to help them overcome various obstacles. Although most people can easily access the online world today, the content available includes both positive messages that promote encouragement and negative ones that impact mental health. Vulnerable groups like single mothers are often misunderstood and judged by society. Consequently, single mothers are at higher risk for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, and family problems. Therefore, the AIS Cyber Safe project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, aims to provide coping strategies for single mothers facing online bullying, through various forms of encouragement, and to help drive society towards understanding and awareness, ultimately leading to the cessation of online bullying behaviors.

This collaboration between AIS and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will provide a unique experience for single mothers through renowned artists and actors, such as Nicole Theriault, representing single mothers who face social obstacles and sharing their coping experiences. Additionally, Ms. Merisa Yodmonthop will share insights on providing psychological counseling for families, particularly for single mothers.

“AIS is committed to our core policy of being the best digital network and service provider for Thais, alongside our dedication to doing good for society. AIS Cyber Safe aims to be part of the encouragement in overcoming social challenges and improving the quality of life for Thai families, to build strength among single mothers while campaigning against online bullying, under the concept of Standing Together with Understanding... We Support All Mothers,” Ms. Saichon concluded.
