AIS Collaborates with the FDA to Share Health Product Knowledge via the AOM Online Application, Enhancing the Work of Community Health Volunteers for Safe and Standard Health Product Consumption
AIS has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to enhance the dissemination of health product information through the AOM Online application. This initiative aims to provide accurate knowledge and understanding to community health volunteers (AOM) so they can educate the public about consuming health products that meet standards and are FDA-approved. It also serves as a reminder for the public to be cautious of advertisements for substandard health products, which could pose health risks and even lead to fatalities.

Ms. Saichon Supamakudom, Head of Public Relations at AIS stated, "As a digital service provider, AIS is committed to leveraging our capabilities to benefit society and the nation for sustainable development, particularly in public health. We have developed the AOM Online application as a specialized social network for proactive community health work, enabling health officials and community health volunteers (AOM) to quickly and comprehensively access health information. This tool also fosters learning, understanding, and skills in using digital technology, empowering AOM to be knowledgeable about health and effectively share this knowledge with the community."

In this collaboration, AIS and the FDA have integrated health product information into the news feed of the AOM Online application. This allows AOM, who play a crucial role in health surveillance and consumer protection, to access comprehensive and accurate information about health products. They can then disseminate this information to help the public make informed choices about purchasing and using FDA-approved health products, while also warning them against falling victim to misleading advertisements that exaggerate product claims, thus preventing the consumption of substandard health products that could harm health and lead to serious consequences.

Pharmacist Ms. Wareerat Lertnatee, Director of the Consumer Empowerment Division at the FDA added, "The FDA, through the Consumer Empowerment Division, has a vital mission to enhance public knowledge about the correct consumption of health products. We have previously disseminated information through various channels, including media, online platforms like Facebook, Line, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram under the name FDAThai, as well as through networks like AOM and BWR. AOM is a significant network that leads health behavior change and communicates public health knowledge to consumers in the community. In global meetings, AOM has been recognized as a mechanism that strengthens the healthcare system. Therefore, the FDA values and is pleased to collaborate in sharing health product knowledge through the AOM Online application, which enhances the effectiveness of health operations in the community and promotes consumer awareness about health products (Smart Consumer)."

We believe this collaboration will enhance the effectiveness of community health promotion efforts, reflecting AIS's commitment to providing services for society that aim to ensure equitable access to modern digital technology for grassroots communities."
