Chinese Premier Hints 'Mekong Countries' Will Get Priority If China's 'COVID-19 Vaccine' Is Successful

According to Xinhua News Agency, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang revealed during the 3rd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (MLC) Leaders' Meeting held via video conference today (August 24) that China will prioritize the allocation of COVID-19 vaccines to the Mekong countries once the vaccine is successfully developed and implemented.

Premier Li stated that China will establish a special fund to promote public health under the framework of the MLC Special Fund and will continue to allocate epidemic prevention equipment and provide technical support to the Mekong countries.

Additionally, the Chinese Premier emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in combating the global pandemic, stating that the Beijing government is willing to work with the Mekong countries to support the efforts of the World Health Organization (WHO).
