On December 3, 2019, Mr. Surapong Laohakarnjana, the President of Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTS), announced that on December 4, 2019, the company will open 4 additional stations on the Green Line (from the existing 44 stations) covering the Mo Chit - Sanam Pao - Ku Kot route. The new stations are Phaholyothin 24 (N10), Ratchayothin (N11), Sena Nikhom (N12), and Kasetsart University (N13).

Additionally, fare exemptions will be in place until January 2, 2020. Currently, the Green Line has already exempted fares for one station, from Mo Chit to Ha Yaek Lat Phrao, and for 9 stations on the southern Green Line from Bearing to Samut Prakan, totaling 14 stations with free service.

"The expansion of the service route aims to provide greater convenience for the public. The company has organized the train operations for maximum efficiency to facilitate passengers, alongside continuously increasing the number of new trains. A total of 46 new train sets have been ordered, with 33 already delivered. The remaining sets are expected to be delivered by March 2020, which will allow the company to operate 98 train sets, totaling 392 carriages," Mr. Surapong stated.

Mr. Surapong further mentioned that to accommodate the service expansion, the company will increase the number of trains on the Sukhumvit line, with service divided into two main periods: 1. Morning rush hour from 07:00 to 09:00 and evening rush hour from 16:30 to 20:00 on weekdays, with a frequency of 2 minutes and 40 seconds between trains from Mo Chit (N8) to Samrong (E15).

The frequency between Mo Chit (N8) and Kasetsart University (N13), as well as between Samrong (E15) and Kheha (E23), will have a gap of 5 minutes and 20 seconds between trains, with alternating services. Passengers can observe the information from the signs on the front and side of the trains, announcements on the platform, in the train, and on the station display screens.

           2. Off-peak hours on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:30 and from 20:00 to 24:00 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, all trains will run from Kheha to Kasetsart University with a frequency of 6 to 6 minutes and 30 seconds, and 8 minutes after 22:00.

However, the operation of the Skytrain on the Silom line will remain unchanged, with a frequency of 3 minutes and 45 seconds during morning and evening rush hours, and between 6 to 8 minutes during off-peak hours, including weekends and public holidays.
