Home Building Market in 2019: Strong Purchasing Power with a Targeted Market Growth of 5-8%
The Home Builders Association is confident that the home building market will continue to grow, as purchasing power remains strong this year. The country's economy is stable, with a target for the overall market value to increase by 5-8%, amounting to approximately 12.5 to 13 billion baht. The association is set to organize the Home Building and Materials event from March 21-24 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, gathering leading home building companies and construction material manufacturers to boost first-quarter sales, with expected sales at the event not less than 1.2 billion baht.
Ms. Siriporn Singharun, President of the Home Builders Association (HBA), revealed that the home building market in 2018 had a total market value of 12 billion baht, growing from 11 billion baht in 2017. For 2019, the total market value is expected to grow by another 5-8%, reaching approximately 12.5 to 13 billion baht. The association considers this growth figure satisfactory, as it indicates stability and a continuous growth trajectory, driven by increasing consumer confidence in building homes with home building companies. Meanwhile, the overall economic indicators of the country continue to show stable growth.
Previously, the association conducted a survey and research on consumers attending the Home Building and Materials event last August, finding that over 60% of consumers plan to build homes this year, particularly in the first quarter, as consumer behavior in the home building industry typically involves a decision-making period of about 3 months to 1 year.

“We have been monitoring the total market value consistently. The figures over the past three years indicate a continuous growth trend. This is partly due to increased consumer confidence in using home building companies for their construction needs. Additionally, many home building companies have ramped up their marketing efforts since late last year. In the first quarter, we expect a significant number of consumers to decide to build homes, with the price range of 2-5 million baht remaining the main market segment,” Ms. Siriporn stated.
Ms. Siriporn further stated that to stimulate sales during the first quarter, the association will organize the Home Building and Materials Home Builder & Material Focus 2019 event under the concept of making home building easier, from March 21-24, 2019, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event will gather home building companies

that are members of the Home Builders Association to participate, showcasing the latest house designs and special promotions, along with leading construction material manufacturers who will present new technologies and innovations at the event. Additionally, the association will set up a space for eco-friendly construction material innovations to showcase new environmentally friendly innovations, in line with the association's policy to encourage members to prioritize environmentally conscious construction practices. Those who book home construction at the event will not only receive special promotions from the participating home building companies but will also have a chance to win gold prizes worth 100,000 baht. For the Home Building and Materials event in 2019, sales at the event are expected to reach approximately 1.2 billion baht, which is similar to last year's event. It is also anticipated that after the event, there will be additional home construction decisions amounting to around 1 billion baht.
