The Embassy of Japan in Thailand has awarded a decoration to “Mr. Pailiw Triwitsawet”, the Executive Chairman of Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited, in recognition of his significant role in supporting economic cooperation between Japan and Thailand. The ceremony for the award of the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” was held today at the Embassy of Japan in Thailand.

His Excellency Mr. Shiro Sadoshima, the Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, stated, “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Pailiw as the first Thai from the private sector to receive the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon”, which is a testament to his dedication and significant success in promoting Japanese culture and economic cooperation, as well as advancing the construction industry in Thailand.”

Mr. Pailiw received the Monbusho scholarship (now known as the Monbukagakusho scholarship) from the Japanese government to study electrical engineering at the undergraduate and master's levels at Osaka University in Japan. After completing his studies, Mr. Pailiw returned to manage Ch. Karnchang Limited, which was then a small family construction business, and expanded it into a publicly listed company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, gaining significant recognition today as a result of the knowledge and experience he acquired in Japan.

Over the years, Mr. Pailiw has played a crucial role in promoting good relations between Japan and Thailand in cultural, social, and economic aspects. This began with the establishment of a joint venture with a Japanese company (Tokyu Construction), which opened opportunities for both parties to exchange knowledge and expertise in construction engineering. This was a significant starting point for modernizing the company's construction business, leading to partnerships with several leading Japanese companies later on. He has also supported and contributed to many public benefit activities, such as donating funds to assist the Japanese government in recovering from the major earthquake in 2011 that caused widespread damage.

Mr. Pailiw is recognized as a highly successful businessman, playing a key role in developing Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited into a leading construction firm, as well as being a project developer, investor, and concessionaire for several major public infrastructure projects in Thailand. He possesses diverse construction and project management capabilities both in Thailand and the region, and has expanded the business into related fields such as transportation, energy, and water supply. Today, Ch. Karnchang is recognized as a large construction company operating transparently under governance principles that prioritize environmental care.

Furthermore, Mr. Pailiw is regarded as a visionary businessman, professional, dedicated, and committed to enhancing the quality of life of the people through high-quality construction and public infrastructure projects.

“I am extremely honored to receive this highest honor from Japan as the first Thai businessman to receive this decoration. When I was a student in Japan, I witnessed Japan's commitment to progress, as well as the discipline and responsibility of its people. These qualities have inspired my business philosophy and form the foundation of the company's success today. I sincerely hope to continue playing a small part in promoting good relations between Thailand and Japan for the mutual benefit of both our countries,” Mr. Pailiw Triwitsawet stated.
