63 Years of 'Seacon' as a Pioneer in the Home Construction Business in Thailand

Seacon Co., Ltd. was founded on March 9, 1961, by a group of businesspeople led by Mr. Vichai Sorasakthikul, who recognized the importance of the construction business for national development. The construction business requires knowledgeable personnel in civil engineering to manage operations directly. Therefore, Mr. Vichai appointed his son, Mr. Kobchai Sorasakthikul, who graduated in civil engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia, and was then working with a U.S. construction design company, to take charge of the company's management. Under Mr. Kobchai's leadership, the company had the opportunity to take on several significant large-scale construction projects.

The first project was the design and construction of a market and row houses with approximately 200 units in the Mahannak market area. Following the success of several projects, the company developed the 'Seacon System', enabling the construction of strong, durable buildings while saving costs and construction time, leading to a more standardized construction process. The first project using the Seacon System was the construction of row houses on Rama 4 Road and Banthat Thong Road for Wang Mai Co., Ltd., which was a direct contractor with Chulalongkorn University. Following this success, the company was entrusted with the construction of Siam Square, the first large shopping center in Thailand at that time, which included three cinemas, one bowling alley, and about 550 row houses. The company also collaborated with Si Phraya Construction Co., Ltd. to build the Siam Intercontinental Hotel, a proud achievement that established trust in the construction using the 'Seacon System'. In 1966, the U.S. government initiated a policy to support low-income individuals in Thailand to own homes by guaranteeing a loan of $5 million to develop housing projects. The company partnered with an American firm to create 'Friendship Village', consisting of approximately 800 single-family homes available for low-interest purchase over 20 years, which was highly successful and marked the company's pioneering efforts in long-term installment housing projects that are now widespread.

2024: Seacon Continues Its Business Operations with Unchanging Quality

In 2024, in addition to the completion of the second Seacon semi-prefabricated structure factory in Lam Luk Ka Klong 12, which has a production capacity of 120,000 pieces per year or 700-800 homes, the company is poised for rapid growth and continuous advancement in a 'Fast Forward' manner. Mr. Kobchai Sorasakthikul has also passed on the vision and mission of leadership in the home construction business to the third-generation executives, Mr. Pairat Sorasakthikul, the Executive Chairman, and Mr. Manu Trakulwatanakit, the Managing Director of Seacon Co., Ltd., to continue developing innovations and home construction services in Thailand without pause. This begins with the special campaign 'Seacon...Passing on with Heart', which includes the development of advertisements and music videos to maintain consumer confidence and brand recognition.

Reinforcing the Commitment to Quality Through Music Marketing Strategy

Recently, Seacon has adopted a Music Marketing strategy, utilizing 'music and sound' as a communication tool to reinforce brand loyalty and create brand awareness among new target audiences. This collaboration with 'Boy Kosiyabong', a renowned Thai songwriter, singer, and producer, involves rearranging the song LIVE and LEARN, featuring the talented singer Pun Paiboonkiat Kheawkaew, who has over a hundred songs to his credit, delivering the emotion of LIVE and LEARN in a special Drum and Bass version of Seacon, alongside Glom The Voice-Arawi Pinijsaraphirom, to convey the journey and story of Seacon's 63 years in business, which has never ceased to develop its capabilities and services. Every challenge faced has been met with innovative solutions to fulfill consumer needs throughout the years with dedication and sincerity, earning recognition for quality and continuous service. 'The reason Seacon chose the song LIVE and LEARN for this campaign is that its lyrics convey a meaningful message that aligns clearly with what we want to communicate. It reflects the philosophy of life of a person who has been in business for 63 years, accumulating experience and expertise, and when the time is right, that accumulated knowledge must be passed on to the next generation. However, what has never changed is our commitment to a customer-centric business approach that we have always adhered to, which we believe will be a key factor in driving the business sustainably from the present into the future,' said Mr. Manu Trakulwatanakit.

The song LIVE and LEARN in a special Drum and Bass version by Seacon will be developed into an advertisement and music video, officially launching on April 24.

Regarding Seacon's business operations in the first quarter of 2024, Mr. Manu Trakulwatanakit stated, 'Overall, Seacon's business operations in the first quarter of 2024 have seen an increase in home construction bookings by approximately 15% compared to 2023, and we believe that in the second quarter of this year, the home construction market will continue to grow due to government measures to stimulate the real estate sector, including tax reductions for those wishing to build homes, up to 100,000 baht for two years, which we believe will further encourage consumer decision-making.'
