Smart Tech (Thailand) Launches 'KOOM Air' to Save 15-30% on Electricity Costs, Targeting Corporate Clients
Smart Tech (Thailand) is moving forward as a hub for energy-saving products and services, starting with the launch of KOOM Air, an intelligent device for controlling air conditioning, responding to the trend of energy conservation and global warming reduction, helping to save electricity costs by 15-30%, with potential savings of up to 6,000 baht per unit per year and a payback period of 1-2 years. The company is ready to expand its customer base and product portfolio aggressively.

Mr. Phuminrung Siriviratkul, Director of Smart Tech (Thailand) Co., Ltd., revealed that the company aims to promote its brand and products to become a central hub for energy-saving goods and services. When customers seek solutions to reduce their energy costs, they should think of the company's brand. The trend of energy conservation will continue to be in high demand in the market due to rising energy costs and global warming caused by excessive energy use. This drives organizations to become more sustainable, prompting customers to look for solutions to save energy, reduce expenses, and continuously increase profits for their organizations.
Recently, the company developed the air conditioning control device (KOOM Air i9) to promote energy conservation in air conditioning systems. This intelligent device helps manage air conditioning usage efficiently and sustainably.
The KOOM Air i9 device features automatic operation for air conditioning units within organizations. It can set timers for on/off, select operating modes, and automatically adjust temperatures. It also allows detailed tracking of usage history, including the times the air conditioning was used and whether the temperatures adhered to management policies. Importantly, it can lock the remote control to prevent unauthorized adjustments or usage. The company has analyzed usage patterns from various organizations, such as many organizations switching to automatic fan mode for 10 minutes every hour of air conditioning use to better manage air conditioning operations.

In 2023, Smart Tech (Thailand) Co., Ltd. submitted the KOOM Air device for the Thailand Energy Award 2023 and received the award for Creative Energy in the technology supplier category. It was also selected as Thailand's representative for the ASEAN Energy Award 2023, winning the title of Winner of the Energy Efficient Building – Special Submission – Appropriate Technology at the ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards 2023.
Currently, the government has established energy-saving guidelines for public sector agencies, including district administrations, higher education institutions, and state enterprises, aiming to reduce energy consumption by at least 20% to alleviate public sector expenses and set a good example for citizens, as per Cabinet Resolution Document No. Pn 0100/46 dated March 21, 2022. It is evident that the government's recommendations, such as adhering to set operating hours or maintaining a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, align with the functions of the KOOM Air device, which helps manage operations during non-working hours, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of government measures without impacting employee comfort.

The company has state enterprise clients, such as the Expressway Authority of Thailand and the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, which have chosen the Bang Khen branch as a model for implementing the device to manage air conditioning usage in their offices. The company expresses gratitude to the Governor of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, Mr. Manit Panem, and Deputy Governor Mr. Suthep Ueapakorn, along with all management and staff, for their willingness to adjust their air conditioning usage behaviors for the benefit of energy reduction, achieving savings of up to 22%.
Additionally, many private organizations recognize the benefits of using technology to automate air conditioning settings, including Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, and Minor Food Group, which have implemented it in restaurants like Bonchon and Burger King, as well as at Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration School in Pathumwan. KOOM Air can be utilized across various sectors, including industrial factories, private organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, state enterprises, and even coffee shops like Cafe Amazon, effectively managing and reducing electricity costs for both large and small organizations.
Mr. Phuminrung concluded that KOOM Air is a device that aids in managing air conditioning systems, allowing organizations to sustainably achieve their electricity cost reduction objectives. To effectively manage air conditioning, it is essential to first identify where waste occurs in current usage patterns, which can be tracked through the usage history collected by KOOM Air. Then, the device's functions can be programmed automatically to reduce waste from previous usage patterns. With this approach, organizations can lower their electricity bills, resulting in increased profits through the participation of everyone in the organization.
