The Siam Society of Architects under Royal Patronage organized a forum on Cultural Sustainability, bringing together 5 professional organizations to promote the Thai architecture industry during the second press conference for “Architects’ 66” under the theme “Tam Thad: Time of Togetherness”. This event aimed to showcase the concept of collaboration among architects from all fields, including producers, contractors, project owners, and everyone involved, at The Jim Thompson Art Center on Tuesday, March 28.

The forum was held under the topic “Cultural Sustainability”, focusing on creating cultural sustainability that connects architecture with Thai culture to enhance the value and significance of works. This was discussed from the perspectives of the 5 professional organizations: The Siam Society of Architects under Royal Patronage, the Association of Thai Interior Designers, the Association of Thai Landscape Architects, the Association of Thai Urban Planners, and the Council of Architects, each bringing their expertise in environmental design to the important mission of creating a more sustainable society and world.

Ms. Pui Fai Khunawat, the chairperson of Architects’ 66, stated, “This forum must emphasize that Cultural Sustainability is a term we have been hearing for a long time. In terms of architecture, it can be applied to design at any scale. A clear example can be seen in the All Member Exhibition where we invite all member associations to submit their works for display in the ALL MEMBERS 2023 exhibition, Tam Thad: Time of Togetherness. This reflects the importance of professional practice and aims to communicate to the general public while also showcasing diverse design approaches to fellow architects. Regardless of scale, whether it’s interior architecture, exterior architecture, landscape architecture, or urban planning, we can integrate Thai culture to promote a better quality of life for everyone.

Additionally, a highlight of this event is the ‘Human Library’, where we provide an opportunity for people to engage in conversations with 'human books' who share real-life stories and experiences. Notable participants include Mr. Amata Luhaiphoon and Mr. Chatpong Chuenrudeekamol, two recipients of the Silpathorn Award, Mr. Boom, Mr. Thrisorn Thoranawikrai, a real estate and lifestyle reviewer, and Mr. Ted – Mr. Yuthana Boonaom, the father of architect Nana, among others. This creates a platform for people to ask questions and exchange ideas.

This activity will take place from April 25 to 30, 2023, at Challenger Hollywood Impact Muang Thong Thani. Interested participants must register in advance to reserve a spot (limited to 6-10 participants per group to facilitate thorough discussions and Q&A). Discussions will be divided into 3 sessions daily at 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
