PPS Wins Construction Project for Purple Line Electric Train from Tao Pun to Rat Burana Worth 959 Million Baht
PPS has secured the construction contract for the civil engineering work of the Purple Line electric train project from Tao Pun to Rat Burana (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road) as part of the project management and construction supervision consultant group 2 valued at 959 million baht and will commence construction in June 2022, with services expected to start in 2027.
Dr. Pongthorn Tharachaichai, CEO of Project Planning Service Public Company Limited (PPS), announced that the company has been awarded the civil engineering construction work for the Purple Line electric train project from Tao Pun to Rat Burana (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road) as part of the project management and construction supervision consultant group 2 (PMCSC2) with a budget of 959 million baht (including 7% VAT), in collaboration with partner companies including Asian Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd., Tesco Co., Ltd., Utility Design Consultants Co., Ltd., IT International Co., Ltd., and Integrated Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd.
The civil engineering work for the Purple Line electric train project from Tao Pun to Rat Burana (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road) consists of a total of 3 contracts with a combined value of 2.6 billion baht. This project is a collaboration between the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and three groups of project management and construction supervision consultants to ensure the construction is carried out according to the stipulated contracts, starting in June 2022, with a planned service opening in 2027.
“This contract award represents a collaboration between state enterprises and private companies in developing the rail mass transit system in Bangkok and its vicinity, aimed at enhancing the quality of urban life by providing convenient and fast transportation connections. PPS has previous experience as a consultant for the Blue Line subway project, which is the first underground electric train, as well as the extension of the Blue Line. Therefore, securing the Purple Line project reinforces our expertise in railway work and increases our share of infrastructure projects in Thailand. Our company and the construction consulting group are pleased and ready to commence work immediately to align with the construction operations as per the notice to proceed from the MRTA,” Dr. Pongthorn stated.
