Fiscal Policy Office Reports on Regional Economic Situation Weekly as of October 8, 2021
The Fiscal Policy Office - FPO reports on the regional economic situation weekly (Regional Weekly) as of October 8, 2021, as follows:
(1) The number of newly registered passenger cars in September 2021 decreased by -11.9%
(2) The number of newly registered motorcycles in September 2021 decreased by -16.9%
Durable goods consumption is reflected in the number of newly registered passenger cars in September 2021, which continued to decline from the previous month across all regions, similar to the number of newly registered motorcycles.

- The number of newly registered passenger cars in September 2021 was 39,110 units, a decrease of -11.9% year-on-year (however, when adjusting for seasonal effects, it shows a growth of 0.1% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). Details include: 1) The eastern region saw a slower decline at -7.3% year-on-year from the previous month’s decline of -17.2% year-on-year; however, the provinces of Sa Kaeo, Chonburi, and Trat were still able to grow. 2) Bangkok and its vicinity decreased by -6.8% year-on-year from the previous month’s decline of -2.7% year-on-year; however, Nonthaburi province was still able to grow. 3) The southern region saw a slower decline at -8.3% year-on-year from the previous month’s decline of -18.8% year-on-year; however, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, and Phatthalung provinces were still able to grow.
- The number of newly registered motorcycles in September 2021 was 123,478 units, a decrease of -16.9% year-on-year (however, when adjusting for seasonal effects, it shows a growth of 20.8% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). Details include: 1) Bangkok and its vicinity saw a slower decline at -7.4% year-on-year from the previous month’s decline of -22.2% year-on-year; however, Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi provinces were still able to grow. 2) The western region decreased by -9.2% year-on-year from the previous month’s decline of -29.5% year-on-year; however, Prachinburi province was still able to grow. 3) The central region saw a slower decline at -13.5% year-on-year from the previous month’s decline of -40.3% year-on-year; however, Saraburi and Chai Nat provinces saw a slower rate of decline.
