Check 4 Provinces Announcing Lockdown in High-Risk Areas After New Wave of COVID-19 Outbreak with Rising Infection Rates
Due to the new wave of COVID-19 outbreak in Thailand, the number of infections has surged significantly, linked to the first case identified at the Central Shrimp Market in Samut Sakhon, prompting lockdown orders in certain areas as follows:
Samut Sakhon Province has announced an escalation of control measures from December 19, 2020, to January 3, 2021, designating strict disease control areas, such as closing the Central Shrimp Market and the Si Muang Dormitory, with a complete ban on entry and exit. In general areas, various types of venues are required to temporarily close, including sports fields, boxing arenas, playgrounds, all types of educational institutions, tutoring centers, and childcare facilities. Restaurants and beverage shops are allowed to operate only for takeout, while convenience stores must close from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Samut Songkhram Province has ordered the closure of certain high-risk venues from December 23, 2020, to January 4, 2021, including entertainment venues, cockfighting arenas, fish fighting arenas, cinemas, game shops, karaoke bars, early childhood development centers, and all educational institutions in Samut Songkhram, as well as tutoring centers, spas, massage parlors, and markets or flea markets, except for those selling fresh food, dry food, prepared food, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, and essential goods for daily living.

Samut Prakan Province has announced COVID-19 control measures from December 23 to January 4, 2021, including the closure of both public and private educational institutions and tutoring centers, early childhood development centers, and elderly schools in Phra Samut Chedi and Phra Pradaeng districts temporarily. Entertainment venues and establishments similar to entertainment venues, such as pubs, bars, and karaoke, are allowed to serve food only, with dancing prohibited, and must comply with the measures set by the CCSA. New Year activities and year-end prayers are also suspended.
Chiang Mai Province has announced measures to control and prevent COVID-19 by restricting travel for residents in three sub-districts (Tha Ton, Malika, and Mae Ai).
