• AWC is advancing its mission to 'Build a Better Future' with the launch of the World’s First Sustainable Cross-River Themed Cable Car, developed under the concept of sustainable travel. This will also be the first cable car to receive international certification.
  • Additionally, 'MONA Bangkok' has been unveiled at Asiatique The Riverfront, in collaboration with MONA (Museum of Old and New Art), a world-renowned contemporary art museum from Australia, aimed at creating a global center for art, culture, and immersive experiences, while promoting cultural exchange and enhancing the potential of Thai artists and artists from around the world.
  • This collaboration will redefine the riverside area of the Chao Phraya River as a future destination, seamlessly integrating sustainable travel innovations with world-class art and cultural experiences to shape and drive the future of sustainable tourism in Thailand.

Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), a Thai real estate developer focused on comprehensive lifestyle solutions, is thrilled to announce this significant collaboration to develop a new landmark at Asiatique The Riverfront, propelling Thailand towards becoming a global sustainable tourism destination through the development of two key projects: the 'Sustainable Cable Car Across the Chao Phraya River from Bangkok' and 'MONA Bangkok', a new immersive art museum in collaboration with MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) from Australia, one of the most influential contemporary art museums in the world, recognized internationally. Both projects reflect AWC's commitment to creating destinations that elevate the Thai tourism industry while providing long-term value to communities, the economy, and the country sustainably.

Under the mission 'Build a Better Future', AWC is developing Asiatique The Riverfront into a World-Class Sustainable Tourism and Lifestyle Destination, with the 'Sustainable Cable Car Across the Chao Phraya River to MONA Bangkok' at the heart of this development. This project will be the World’s First Sustainable Cross-River Themed Cable Car, developed under the concept of sustainable travel, and will be the first cable car to receive international certification, with an investment value of over 2 billion baht, powered by the highest standard technology and energy-efficient.

Designed without a central support pillar in the Chao Phraya River, this cable car will seamlessly connect Asiatique The Riverfront with AWC's new mixed-use project on Charoen Nakhon Road through a Sustainable Mobility Solution. This cable car is not just a mode of transportation but is designed as Kinetic Art, transforming the river crossing into an Immersive Journey filled with art, light, sound, technology, nature, and architecture.

The cable car will connect directly to the MONA Bangkok, developed in collaboration between AWC and MONA, the founder of the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. MONA is recognized as one of the most influential contemporary art museums in the world, attracting visitors from all over the globe each year.

MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) is the largest private museum in Australia, founded by David Walsh to showcase a valuable collection of art, including ancient, modern, and contemporary works. It has been open since 2011 in the northern suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania. MONA is not just a typical museum; it offers a unique experience by integrating art, technology, architecture, and experiential design. Notably, MONA employs a specially developed technology called 'The O' for guiding visitors instead of traditional wall labels, allowing them to immerse themselves and discover the meaning of each artwork personally and enjoyably.

MONA is also widely known for creating 'DarkLab', which focuses on developing and presenting diverse cultural projects, including art, music, festivals, services, and creative district development, covering everything from the creation of the 'Dark Mofo' festival to managing and creating programs at the 'Odeon Theatre' and developing 'In The Hanging Garden', a cultural and lifestyle hub in downtown Hobart that welcomes people year-round.

MONA Bangkok will bring the spirit of creativity and internationally recognized expertise in art and culture from MONA into the cultural context of Thailand at this riverside project. It will not aim to replicate or mimic the museum from Hobart in Bangkok but will create MONA Bangkok to reflect the artistic and cultural values of Thailand and Bangkok specifically, through exchange and engagement with artists, stories, audiences, culture, and Thai identity. Under the concept of being a platform for cultural exchange, MONA Bangkok will provide opportunities for Thai artists and artists from around the world to create and present their works on an international stage, contributing to the growth of art in Bangkok, similar to MONA in Tasmania. The goal is to create a cultural destination that truly reflects the identity of the area and its cultural context.

'The Sustainable Cable Car Across the Chao Phraya River from Bangkok' and 'MONA Bangkok' will together create a new world-class landmark for Bangkok, setting a new standard for experiential tourism and reinforcing Bangkok's role as a global destination for contemporary art and cultural tourism.

This historic collaboration was honored by the presence of Khun Sabida Thai Setthakhet, Minister of Culture, Khun Thapani Kiatpaiboon, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Khun Chatchart Sitthiphan, Governor of Bangkok, Khun Jeremy Rockliff, Premier of Tasmania, Khun Pablo Kang, the incoming Australian Ambassador to Thailand, as well as executives from MONA, representatives from the government, the business sector, and the media, who witnessed the event.

Naowalapa Traisorat, CEO and Managing Director of Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), stated:

“AWC is committed under the mission 'Build a Better Future' with a destination development model that creates sustainable value for tourism, communities, and the country. This important project will be another step forward in delivering meaningful and sustainable value over the long term by creating a world-class experience that integrates innovation, creativity, and sustainability.”

Believing that good architecture and design can change how people experience and connect with the values and meanings of a place, this project reflects that idea by integrating 'MONA Bangkok', a space for world-class contemporary art and culture, with the 'Sustainable Cable Car Across the Chao Phraya River' to create an experience that connects art, culture, technology, and sustainable travel for visitors from around the world.

This significant collaboration with MONA Australia will create a new landmark for Bangkok, contributing to enhancing Thailand's potential as a center for sustainable tourism in art, culture, and creative learning at a global level. AWC thanks all partners who share this vision and commitment, and believes that this collaboration will create long-term value and benefits for Bangkok, Thailand, the industry, and people across all sectors.”

Michael Harit, Head of the Commercial Business Group at Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), stated:

“Asiatique The Riverfront is one of the key riverside landmarks in Bangkok, and this collaboration marks the beginning of a new chapter in developing this destination to a global level.

The 'Sustainable Cable Car Across the Chao Phraya River from Bangkok' is not just an infrastructure for travel; it connects the experiences between Asiatique The Riverfront and MONA Bangkok into a seamless destination, transforming every journey into part of the experience by integrating art, technology, and sustainability concepts.

This project reflects the power of collaboration among global partners, each with expertise in their respective fields, including sustainable transportation systems, art, culture, and destination development, showcasing the integration of specialized knowledge from various industries and experts from different regions worldwide, all ready to create a new standard of tourism experience for Bangkok.

By bringing together world-class attractions, immersive art, culture, dining, retail, and entertainment in one place, we are co-creating a distinctive destination that will open new dimensions of tourism along the Chao Phraya River, driven by international collaboration powered by innovation and sustainability.”

David Walsh, founder of MONA, stated:

“For over 25 years, we have dedicated ourselves to studying and developing new concepts for creating museum experiences, and this collaboration with AWC is a significant opportunity to bring that knowledge and experience to Bangkok, one of the world's important tourism destinations, to co-create a new form of art experience for visitors from around the globe.”

Leigh Carmichael, CEO of DarkLab, Creative Director, and Head of the MONA Bangkok project, stated:

“MONA Bangkok will reinterpret the creative spirit of MONA in a different context, full of novelty and uniqueness that does not follow anyone else's path, just like the museum in Hobart. We will present works from leading international artists alongside creating a space for exchanging ideas between Thai artists, audiences, and Thailand's cultural heritage.

The concept of light will be central to creating the experience, explored and interpreted both as a physical phenomenon and a symbol of inspiration, hope, and connection among people, aligning with Bangkok's distinctive cultural identity filled with lifestyle and cultural traditions. We are very excited to learn, exchange, and develop this project together with our partners and the community of Thai creators.

Bangkok is a vibrant city with an audience ready to embrace and is determined to become one of the greatest art destinations in the world.

We are very pleased to collaborate with AWC on this exciting mega project and look forward to meeting Thai artists, designers, and creators to embark on this significant journey together.”
