Bentley Motors Opens New Engineering Technical Center to Support Full Electric Vehicle Production
Bentley Motors officially celebrated the opening of its new state-of-the-art engineering technical center at the Bentley Motors factory in Crewe, England. The event was graced by Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and CEO, and Dr. Matthias Rabe, Executive Director of Research and Development, who presided over the opening ceremony. This new center will play a crucial role in preparing the brand for the development of new vehicle models in the future.
The new engineering technical center is part of a large investment project for facilities dedicated to the development and research of future vehicle models at the Bentley Motors factory in Crewe, England. The center integrates virtual reality technology with product integration, fostering collaborative work throughout the development process in a systematic manner.
Located across two floors, the new center covers a total area of over 13,000 square meters. Inside, it features a prototype simulation room for future vehicles, a materials development department, and a software integration department. The core of the center's integration is the systematic and comprehensive application of skills in training, testing, and preparing for the launch of software systems, high-voltage digital systems, and all electrical systems.
Most departments have relocated from the original A1 building, the oldest structure on the site, which is being transformed into a facility for electric vehicle production set to begin in 2027.
Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser commented on this development, stating, “Our Beyond100+ strategy has laid the foundation for transformation by leveraging what is known today and aligning that vision with the adoption of new technologies in the future. We are developing new electric vehicles that connect digital systems with automated driving capabilities to elevate and achieve the ultimate goal of producing luxury automobiles.” “The new engineering technical center is a vital part of delivering this strategy successfully and helps turn engineering concepts into reality through development and integration, as we are committed to creating the most luxurious and high-performance vehicles in the market.” The Beyond100+ strategy will pave the way for Bentley to transform to accommodate a future powered by electricity. The opening of the engineering technical center will support these goals alongside the expansion of facilities, including a newly opened design studio and the construction of a new integrated paint and logistics center, scheduled to open next year.
