Alliance Laundry Reinforces Success with 117 Years of Achievement, Launches StarLab to Support R&D and Elevate Convenience Store Solutions, Anticipates Expansion to Over 4,800 Shops in Thailand by End of 2025
Alliance Laundry Systems (ALS), the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of industrial laundry machines, celebrates its 117th anniversary of success by hosting the "ALS Wealth Investment 2025 – Loyalty Rewards Night" event, driving the future of the convenience laundry industry. They officially announced the launch of "StarLab," a new R&D and product innovation center in Southeast Asia located in Chonburi, reinforcing Thailand's role as a regional manufacturing and research hub. The company also introduced a new line of washers and dryers with the latest solutions designed to meet the needs of modern consumers and urban pet owners. Currently, there are approximately 4,000 convenience laundry shops in Thailand using ALS machines, with an expected increase of 800 shops by the end of 2025.

Mr. Benjamin Leo Dobbs, Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region at Alliance Laundry (Thailand) Co., Ltd., revealed that ALS has been in business for over 117 years, demonstrating its ability to adapt, innovate, and enhance quality of life while adhering to ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) principles, which are at the core of its operations. Through the "SEED Initiatives" concept, the company emphasizes Safety, Efficiency, Ergonomics, Durability, and Sustainability, aiming to create products that genuinely address both business needs and environmental responsibilities, such as reducing plastic use, increasing clean energy usage, and sourcing over 78% of raw materials from local suppliers to minimize greenhouse gas emissions in the long term.

“Another key strategy is the official launch of the StarLab, a regional product research and development laboratory in Chonburi, which can accommodate testing for various types of products including Small Chassis, Large Chassis, and Softmount. This allows us to create a global testing platform and accurately simulate real-world usage scenarios before market release. Additionally, it fosters collaboration between our engineering teams in Thailand and global engineers to share knowledge. Therefore, StarLab is not just a technology center but a hub for innovation and product development in Asia. At ALS, we are not just creating products; we are building the future of the laundry business sustainably,”

Mr. Eddie Tay, Senior Sales Director for the Asia-Pacific region at Alliance Laundry Systems LLC, stated that the convenience laundry business in the Asia-Pacific region continues to grow, especially in developed countries like Japan, Australia, and Taiwan, as well as Thailand. ALS is continuously developing new solutions to meet market demands, particularly with the introduction of the new Stax-X and Combo Wash & Dry machines. For the first time, the Thai factory will produce Softmount machines for Combo washers, which have the advantage of not requiring convenience laundry shops to be located only on the ground floor of buildings but can be installed even on higher floors, as Softmount machines can effectively absorb vibrations.
There is no need for additional structural reinforcement, and production is set to begin in Thailand this July. By early 2026, a new product featuring Matte Black Pet Features will be launched, along with a special program developed to easily remove small pet hairs from fabrics, ensuring cleanliness without residue while being gentle on fabrics, catering to the lifestyle of Urban Pet Owners who prioritize hygiene, convenience, and time-saving. This trend is particularly interesting given the growing relationship between people and pets.
“In addition to product development, ALS is also supporting the enhancement of convenience laundry shops with technologies such as cashless payment systems and remote store management systems, which improve operational efficiency and create new consumer experiences,”

Dr. Sukree Kira, Sales Director for Southeast Asia at Alliance Laundry Systems LLC, mentioned that “In the first half of 2025, the overall convenience laundry market in Southeast Asia is experiencing significant growth, particularly in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia, which are emerging markets. ALS is accelerating the appointment of distributors in these countries for all brands to expand its business base and elevate the quality standards of convenience laundry shops across the region. In Thailand, investment trends are shifting towards larger shops, sizes L and XL, as they can accommodate a diverse customer base, including families, communities, and entrepreneurs looking to differentiate their services. Currently, there are about 4,000 shops using ALS machines, and it is expected that there will be an additional 800 shops by the end of this year. Furthermore, ALS is proactively supporting shop owners through networking activities such as factory visits, seminars, experience sharing, and joint activities with distributors to develop a sustainable ecosystem for operators.”

On the special occasion of its 117th anniversary, ALS hosted the “ALS Wealth Investment 2025 – Loyalty Rewards Night” to offer special deals to investors as a token of appreciation for their customers.
“ALS is not built solely on products or technology; we have grown from the trust, confidence, and support of our business partners who have journeyed and grown with us. We will continue to develop solutions to set new standards for the convenience laundry industry while laying a strong foundation for a sustainable future together,” Mr. Benjamin concluded.
