• Extending Park View connects the green spaces of Dusit Central Park to Lumpini Park, aiming to become Thailand’s Largest Urban Roof Park.
  • Designed with Universal Design principles, it ensures accessibility for everyone, enhancing urban living in Bangkok and the image of Thailand.

Viman Suriyah Co., Ltd., the developer of Dusit Central Park, a world-class mixed-use project under the concept of Here for Bangkok, and the developer of The Residences at Dusit Central Park, the best luxury residential project in the Super Core CBD, has announced the progress of the Roof Park ahead of its opening in the third quarter. This park will showcase the lush greenery of trees, with heights ranging from the 4th to the 7th floor, connecting the views of Lumpini Park through an Extending Park View. This initiative aims to give back to the community, promote public health, and enhance urban quality, welcoming both Thai citizens and tourists from around the world to engage in various activities, establishing itself as Thailand’s Largest Urban Roof Park.

Supachai Sutthumphan, CEO of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited, stated, “The project is preparing to officially open Roof Park in the third quarter of this year. This reflects the vision of our management, which seeks to develop the area not just for business but to enhance the space for happiness and quality of life for the Thai community and the world, allowing everyone to enjoy their time in this area. We aim to create a green space of 7 rai (11,200 square meters) as a large rooftop park within Dusit Central Park to improve the quality of life for people in Bangkok. This is the first project in the city center to create such a green space, which is crucial not only for beautifying the project but also for social and environmental benefits by promoting health and urban quality. This will sustainably add value to Dusit Central Park. Furthermore, the development of this green space will positively impact the country’s image in three dimensions: the economic dimension by attracting both Thai and foreign visitors, hotel guests, residents, shoppers, and office workers to relax and enjoy the serene and natural atmosphere; the social dimension by creating a green space that the community can use according to their lifestyles, enhancing appreciation for nature; and the urban ecosystem dimension by planting species that increase oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, and reduce PM10 and PM2.5 dust. The waterfall areas throughout Roof Park will help lower temperatures and increase humidity, making the air fresh and cool while providing a habitat for beneficial insects and small animals. This forward-thinking approach aims to address sustainability by creating a quality urban ecosystem for everyone, making us the largest urban roof park in Thailand.”

“With a commitment to create a space that benefits everyone, regardless of gender or age, both Thai citizens and tourists worldwide, we have allocated areas for various activities and uses, such as viewpoints, gathering spaces, dining areas, playgrounds, and an amphitheater that can host a variety of events like art shows, music, and mini-events. This design allows urban dwellers to shape their lifestyles as they wish while offering the beauty of lush views resembling hills that rise from the 4th to the 7th floors, covering a total area of 7 rai (11,200 square meters) and creating an unobstructed Extending Park View connecting the green space of Roof Park to Lumpini Park. When viewed from Lumpini Park, the large green area appears like a small hill amidst the tall buildings in the city center, effectively providing additional green space to Lumpini Park,” Supachai added.

Thachapol Suntharajarn, Managing Director of Landscape Collaboration Co., Ltd., the landscape architect for Roof Park at Dusit Central Park, stated, “The challenge of this area is a new endeavor as we need to design the terrace from the 4th to the 7th floors to connect seamlessly, resembling hills that blend with Lumpini Park. This provides a new experience between nature and urban living while arranging various heights of plants. In developing and designing the space, we apply Universal Design principles and integrate various concepts, including 1) Inclusive Design for All to make Roof Park a green space designed with lifestyle considerations, accommodating diverse user needs for both active and passive activities, including pet areas; 2) Continuing the beautiful heritage of Dusit Thani Bangkok through unique features like waterfalls, fish ponds, and plumeria trees, along with beautiful lines and hexagonal forms in the design that reflect the identity of Dusit Thani while harmoniously integrating modern contexts; and 3) Urban Sanctuary & Ecosystem, creating a unique urban ecosystem in Bangkok by fostering a connection to Lumpini Park, selecting native and rare Thai plants, and avoiding chemicals to protect small animals and insects. With these concepts, Roof Park meets the standards of world-class parks like Central Park in New York and Hyde Park in London, designed for everyone in the city amidst a rare prime location.”

Additionally, the design of the area considers LEED certification standards for green buildings by using natural, renewable materials, such as wooden walkways that are durable and replaceable, providing users with a warm, natural feel. Stone is used in some areas, and alternative materials like gravel and washed sand replace cement bases to achieve natural beauty and create interesting surfaces. Another important aspect is the structural work, where we collaborated with structural engineers to design a complex structure to support the platforms of all four components: hotel, residences, shopping center, and office, each with different characteristics and forms. We have constructed the garden's structure and beams in every step in three dimensions, covering all zones and details to facilitate the joining of all parts together, ensuring the structure's strength to support significant weight without leakage, allowing the upper area to accommodate large trees, waterfalls, and various activity spaces.”

“We hope this green space will not only beautify the project but also serve as a rooftop park with a complete ecosystem, enhancing the quality of life for urban residents through a lifestyle more connected to nature. This reflects our commitment to creating a great project like Dusit Central Park that elevates the lives of Bangkok residents. We hope this project will inspire other real estate developers to strive for green space development using meaningful and well-planned concepts to create green areas that can sustainably impact both the community and the environment, regardless of their size, positively affecting nature and the environment,” Supachai concluded.
