Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Architecture Partners with PMCU to Launch a Course for Developing New Asset Managers and Urban Developers, Transforming Railway Station Areas

Prof. Sarayut Sapsuk, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University stated, “The Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University has recognized the trend of developing dual-track railway systems at railway stations across the country, which presents significant opportunities for managing the surrounding areas to provide effective services, enhancing potential and maximizing value by integrating the concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and managing railway station areas as a center for community development in economic, social, and environmental aspects that can generate income, improve quality of life, and create sustainable livable communities.”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthapong Phannoi, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University stated, “The Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University has expanded academic collaboration with universities and agencies abroad, such as in Japan, England, and Germany, which are models of successful TOD development. These collaborations have helped the Faculty accumulate knowledge in area development under the TOD concept. Therefore, the Faculty has the idea to develop a curriculum to transfer knowledge to agencies involved in area development and create participation in driving the development of areas around railway stations in Thailand.””

Prof. Sarayut Sapsuk, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University added, “The Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University has launched the course "Developing Real Estate Business Executives and Area Development Around Railway Stations for Revenue Generation" with the objective of providing knowledge to personnel involved in both the public and private sectors, as well as stakeholders in various sectors, to enhance their capacity to manage areas around railway stations effectively and sustainably. This course is designed for participants to study management approaches for railway station areas through case studies both domestically and internationally, particularly from Japan, which has successfully developed areas around railway stations into economic and tourism hubs.””
Dr. Jaraspatt Phukrasatanawut, Assistant Rector for Asset Management at Chulalongkorn University stated, “PMCU has therefore collaborated with the Faculty of Architecture to develop the curriculum using case studies in area management from the Chulalongkorn Property Management Office (PMCU), which serves as a model for sustainable commercial area development, such as Siam Square, Suan Luang Square, and the Phan Thao area, to transfer knowledge on appropriate area management. The core of this course is to promote collaboration between the public sector, private sector, and communities, focusing on creating business partnerships and engaging stakeholders in the development process according to the concept of "collaboration between landowners, tenants, and communities" to achieve development that meets the needs of all parties and create stable economic sustainability.”

This course will be conducted in a training format over a period of 2 days, allowing participants to learn through practical experience, along with opportunities to exchange ideas with experts and executives from both the public and private sectors. The target audience for the course includes railway station managers nationwide, real estate developers, and those interested in managing areas around railway stations.
This course not only focuses on personnel development but also represents a significant step in pushing for railway stations across the country to become sustainable economic centers that generate income, support the growth of the mass transit system, and promote effective urban development.
The course "Developing Real Estate Business Executives and Area Development Around Railway Stations for Revenue Generation" has the following training sessions: Session 1 on May 22-23, 2025, and Session 2 on June 12-13, 2025. Registration is now open from today until May 1, 2025, with a training fee of 18,000 Baht per person. A special round for those who register by April 18, 2025, will receive an Early Bird discount, reducing the fee to only 16,600 Baht per person.
