Chulalongkorn University Collaborates with Siam Piwat and Leading Developers to Launch WORLD CLASS DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT Training Program, Elevating Thailand to the Global Stage
The Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University has partnered with Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. and Siam Piwat Academy, along with leading business partners including Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC), and Supalai Public Company Limited, to launch the World Class Destination Development training program. This initiative aims to create a platform for knowledge exchange between academia and the business sector, systematically generating positive impacts on urban economies, people's quality of life, and long-term environmental sustainability. It also promotes the development of skills and potential in the real estate industry, enhancing the competitiveness of Thai professionals on the global stage through learning from leading experts both domestically and internationally, along with real-world case study site visits from July 19 to August 30, 2025, organized by the Center for Design for Society at Chulalongkorn University (CU D4S).

This training program builds on the success of the “World Class Shopping Mall Ecosystem Development: Managing Urban and Facility for Sustainable Society of the Future” training held in 2024, which received excellent feedback from participants across the private, public, and educational sectors, particularly regarding the effective connection between theoretical concepts and real-world case studies. The success of that project reflects society's demand for learning from real experiences, driving the expansion of learning to a broader and more comprehensive level through this new training initiative.

Assistant Professor Sarayut Sapsuk, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, stated that as a leading educational institution in architecture, the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University is committed to being a 'Knowledge Connector' between academia, business, and society to collaboratively design a sustainable future in terms of urban development, economy, and quality of life. The World Class Destination Development program is not just a training course but a collaborative platform that allows thinkers, practitioners, and executives in project development to exchange deep and contemporary knowledge. We believe that project development in the 21st century cannot be driven solely by specialized expertise but requires cross-disciplinary integration, systemic understanding, and genuine stakeholder participation.

Thus, we aim to create a Living Learning Platform that not only addresses the design and management of world-class projects but also cultivates people, ideas, and the future of Thailand to stand proudly and sustainably on the international stage.

Mr. Nattawut Kiatchaiyakorn, Deputy Managing Director of Human Resources at Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., expressed that the Siam Piwat Group, a leader in developing world-class destinations, is honored to be the first organization to collaborate with the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University to develop this curriculum for the second consecutive year. Last year's program received tremendous feedback and was highly successful. Every project by Siam Piwat is developed with a forward-thinking vision, presenting innovative concepts and experiences that have become significant landmarks attracting over 100 million visitors annually. With comprehensive knowledge and experience, Siam Piwat is ready to share expertise to enhance the skills and potential of personnel in the real estate industry, reinforcing its role as an Opportunity Platform for sustainable growth across all sectors. We operate under the Siam Piwat Academy, a learning and management institution that exchanges knowledge in real estate development and retail business with Thai education.

Dr. Sitthiporn Israsak, Director of the WORLD CLASS DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT program, highlighted the learning experience through real site visits from five leading projects, explaining that this special curriculum is part of driving the national economic and social development plan by creating a lifelong learning society, which is one of the key visions and missions of Chulalongkorn University. This is achieved through a value co-creation process between academia and various professions, sharing cross-disciplinary knowledge to develop skills across diverse professional fields, elevate academic knowledge, and enhance organizational competitiveness to create value for sustainable economic, social, and environmental development in Thailand's future.

Through collaborative development among diverse stakeholders, the curriculum's content structure will help participants understand business design principles, business direction and operational strategies, project design details, strategic project management, and physical resource management through in-depth learning from real site visits of various leading case studies, including shopping centers, offices, residences, hotels, and mixed-use mega projects. Participants will also engage in project-based learning from real situations and issues throughout the project life cycle, utilizing design thinking processes to creatively and effectively solve problems.
“This program is suitable for professionals from various fields related to architectural project development and management, tourism, and services, especially those seeking promotion or wishing to gain a more holistic understanding of management. Suitable roles include project developers, project managers, business developers, architects, building managers, engineers, and the general public interested in this field. Therefore, we invite everyone interested to apply for the WORLD CLASS DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT training, which will take place from July to August this year,” said Dr. Sitthiporn Israsak, the program director.

Participants will also gain firsthand experience from site visits to the Meliá Pattaya Hotel in Thailand, observing development concepts in various dimensions, including design, operations, services, and sustainable urban integration, which will greatly enhance the capabilities of personnel in the Thai industry to compete effectively on the global stage.”
