Significant Opportunities for Thailand from Participation in WORLD EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN: Expected 28.2 Million Visitors, Aiming to Attract Health Tourism and Generate Massive Revenue
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a shift in behavior and lifestyle, with people increasingly focusing on health care, emphasizing prevention over treatment. This has led to a continuous growth trend in the global health tourism market. According to the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), the global healthcare economy is projected to grow at a rate of 8.6% per year until 2027, with a market value exceeding $8.5 trillion, equivalent to approximately 306 trillion Thai Baht, nearly double compared to 2020. By 2025, the global health economy is expected to be valued at least $7 trillion or 230 trillion Baht. This market value forecast presents Thailand with an opportunity to generate substantial revenue from the health economy, aligning with the Ignite Thailand vision to develop the country as a medical and health hub, which is one of the 13 key milestones in the 13th National Economic and Social Development Plan (2023-2027). Consequently, the government has policies to enhance the health economy in all aspects, pushing Thailand towards becoming a global health center (Medical and Wellness Hub) to drive sustainable economic growth in the long term.

Participating in the WORLD EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN from April 13 to October 13, 2025, presents a great opportunity to showcase Thailand's medical potential and readiness to the international community. This event can lead to significant opportunities for Thailand in various areas, such as:
