Chewa Partners with SCGP to Recycle Paper and Create Classrooms for Youth
Mr. Boon Chunkiat, Managing Director of Chewa Public Company Limited (CHEWA), announced that Chewa has previously collaborated with SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (SCGP) on various initiatives, including collecting unused boxes and paper cartons for recycling into paper field beds for field hospitals across the country, creating student desk sets for underprivileged schools, and many other joint activities. This time, to promote Chewa's commitment to supporting youth in schools and communities in remote areas lacking opportunities, they have partnered to launch the "Chewa Classroom by CHEWA x SCGP" project. This initiative involves setting up collection points for used paper boxes to be recycled into student desks, meeting tables, and other educational materials to be donated to schools in need. This follows their previous support to Ban Pa Lao School in Mae Tha District, Lamphun, which faces educational disadvantages and lacks funding and support. Chewa has been continuously supporting education there for over seven years. In addition to supporting education, this project allows all Chewa customers to participate in waste sorting to reduce waste entering the system from the outset, promoting positive activities between Chewa and its customers as well.

Mr. Thanet Suwannawasit, Director of Recycling Materials Management at SCGP, stated that Chewa has previously participated in activities with SCGP RECYCLE in the project “United Against COVID: Turning Paper into SCGP Field Beds” alongside 62 other organizations, collecting over 5,000 kilograms of paper from Chewa's sorting projects to help society during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, we are very pleased to be part of the continuation of the “Chewa Classroom by CHEWA x SCGP RECYCLE” initiative because our company is committed to promoting the efficient use of resources based on circular economy principles by encouraging waste sorting behaviors from the outset and providing solutions for collecting used paper boxes to be recycled into strong and beautiful paper desks and chairs for schools to utilize.

“The company continues to focus on cost and expense management policies to ensure efficiency, as well as policies that emphasize sustainability principles (ESG) encompassing Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects to integrate into the company's management. Additionally, we aim to extend the knowledge we promote to youth and communities to foster a sense of responsibility for resource conservation in their areas. We also utilize CHEWA AI, focusing on learning and applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology to drive the organization towards sustainability under the vision of “Enhancing Sustainability through Artificial Intelligence” to help improve product quality and organizational growth for maximum efficiency, ensuring stable and sustainable business operations,” said Mr. Boon Chunkiat.

Customers of Chewa interested in participating in the activity can drop off paper boxes at donation points within Chewa's projects, such as Chewa Pinklao Project, Chewa Kaset-Nawamin Project, Chewa Hallmark Lat Phrao-Chokchai 4 Project, and all projects with donation points from now until December 31, 2024.
