Supalai Partners with TOA to Create Green Housing Innovations, Launching Major Project 'Gypsum Cotton & Eco-Friendly Paint' Towards Sustainable Zero Waste Organization
Supalai Public Company Limited reaffirms its commitment to sustainability under the #SupalaiSustainability initiative, focusing on research and development of environmentally and socially friendly housing innovations. In collaboration with TOA Paint (Thailand) Public Company Limited, a leader in paint and construction materials innovation, they have launched the major project 'Gypsum Cotton for the Earth', piloting two condominium projects and utilizing 'Eco-Friendly Paint Expert' for Supalai's homes and condominiums. Throughout 2023, this initiative has helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 332,179 kilograms of CO2 equivalent, which is comparable to offsetting the planting of 19,313 teak trees. The goal for 2024 is to expand to 23 new projects, both horizontal and condominium developments in Bangkok and its vicinity, aiming for a Zero Waste organization.

Mr. Traitecha Tangmattatham, Managing Director of Supalai Public Company Limited, stated that developing sustainable real estate business in line with ESG principles has been a focus for the company over the past 35 years. The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 from Business As Usual (BAU) and is committed to finding innovative solutions to environmental issues caused by real estate activities. One of Supalai's ongoing initiatives is to select construction materials from business partners that emphasize energy efficiency, heat reduction, greenhouse gas emission reduction, water conservation, and effective waste management to minimize waste or achieve zero waste. The company continuously collaborates with construction material partners to innovate and improve construction processes while ensuring effective management in both housing and condominium projects. Currently, various innovations have been developed into new products that meet international quality standards, ensuring construction quality and instilling confidence while promoting environmental awareness among Supalai residents, encouraging them to participate in eco-friendly living and sharing innovations created with business partners to contribute to the national Zero Waste mission.

Mr. Kittipong Sirilaktrakul, Deputy Managing Director of Supalai Public Company Limited, emphasized that Supalai is committed to sustainability in all aspects while adapting to environmental changes. One of the approaches is to engage in sincere discussions with business partners to share opinions and needs, seeking collaboration to create green housing innovations. This includes designing materials and continuously promoting waste management in the construction process, particularly with key partner TOA, which shares the same goals, leading to the launch of the 'Gypsum Cotton for the Earth' project, piloting two condominium projects. This initiative involves recycling leftover gypsum from construction sites, maintaining quality standards, and reducing waste by utilizing materials to their fullest potential. The 'Eco-Friendly Paint Expert' innovation helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by minimizing the use of primer for Supalai's homes and condominiums. Together, these innovations can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 332,179 kilograms of CO2 equivalent, offsetting the planting of 19,313 teak trees within a year and saving 98,347 liters of water annually. The goal is to implement the 'Gypsum Cotton for the Earth' innovation in 23 new projects, both horizontal and condominium developments, by 2024. The company has also developed a new primer and topcoat innovation, Direct to Metal, which reduces the total painting time by over 10 hours compared to traditional paint systems while maintaining the same color performance. Additionally, numerous construction innovations have been developed in collaboration with business partners to create eco-friendly housing that meets the needs of modern residents while caring for the environment and society.

Mr. Jatuphat Tangkarawakhun, CEO of TOA Paint (Thailand) Public Company Limited, stated that TOA, as a market leader in the paint manufacturing industry in Thailand and ASEAN, has been committed to consumer health and environmental care for 60 years. We were the first paint manufacturer in Thailand to eliminate the use of heavy metals, mercury, and lead in building paints since 1977. We continuously innovate safe, health-conscious, and environmentally friendly paints while aiming for sustainable development (SDGs) in line with ESG principles regarding environment, society, and governance. We have announced the Green Mission policy to drive the organization towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, following a concrete roadmap. One of our ongoing missions is to collaborate with business partners who share sustainable business practices, or Green Partners, to create and develop safe green innovations and solutions that address the needs of partners and consumers, helping to reduce negative impacts on the world, caring for user health, and enhancing living conditions for everyone (Better Health & Wellness).

Recently, we have partnered with the green organization Supalai, which shares the goal of becoming a Zero Waste organization, emphasizing waste management to zero to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This collaboration has led to the big project 'Gypsum Cotton for the Earth', which aims to reduce leftover gypsum materials that would otherwise become waste in various construction projects by recycling them for maximum reuse. The pilot has already begun with two condominium projects: 'Supalai Loft Phasi Charoen Station' and 'City Home Sanambinnam - Rattanathibet', which can recycle up to 13.26% of leftover gypsum from the construction site, reducing waste by over 10% and helping to lower greenhouse gas emissions by up to 2.50 kilograms of CO2 equivalent per square meter.
Additionally, Supalai has utilized the 'Eco-Friendly Paint Expert' innovation, which combines topcoat and primer in one can, allowing for easy application in just two coats without the need for a primer. This saves time and significantly reduces water usage. For instance, using the Expert paint in a 150 sqm single-family home with 450 sqm of ceiling area can save up to 78.70 liters of water per house. Compared to the traditional paint system previously used by Supalai, this can save up to 98,347 liters of water annually and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from primer use by 2,297 kilograms of CO2 equivalent. This represents another mission of the two leading green innovation partners with a shared goal to think and act together to help the world mitigate the impacts of climate change sustainably. #SupalaiBuildsWell, creating green housing in collaboration with TOA towards becoming a leading environmentally conscious housing developer, driving the organization towards shared sustainable development goals while delivering 'eco-friendly housing' that meets international quality standards to Supalai residents nationwide.
