Frasers Property Thailand Partners with the Thai Social Value Assessment Association to Support SROI, Encouraging Businesses to Measure Social Impact and Create Sustainable Outcomes
Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited, or "FPT," the first comprehensive real estate leader in Thailand, is paving the way for the private sector to elevate social operations, aiming to create sustainable value. The company has unveiled the success of two quality projects: "C-asean Samyan CO-OP" and "Friends Donate Blood, Giving Life to Each Other," which serve as models for social operations that generate results through SROI assessment, hoping to establish a new standard for businesses while supporting effective management.
Mr. Sarit Trairoj, Deputy Managing Director of Corporate Communications and Branding at Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited, stated that the company has leveraged its strengths and expertise to develop social projects, placing importance on measuring social return on investment (SROI) as it enhances the creation of value for society. The company is a leader in the private sector in measuring the deep impacts of social operations. Previously, the C-asean Samyan CO-OP, a space for shared learning, underwent SROI assessment, revealing that every 1 baht invested in the project yields a social return of 3.5 baht. Recently, the "Friends Donate Blood, Giving Life to Each Other" project generated a social return of 4.5 baht, or a return on investment of 4.5 times.
The "Friends Donate Blood, Giving Life to Each Other" project is a blood donation activity held in the Samyan Mitrtown area, aimed at supplying the National Blood Center of the Thai Red Cross. It has been ongoing since 2020, supporting blood procurement during the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain a reserve for patients nationwide, and continues to this day.

“The company has been able to collect 5,543,350 cc of blood for the Thai Red Cross. This success stems from an efficient system, including online pre-registration and mobile messaging to inform previous donors about blood donation opportunities. On the event day, company volunteers are present to inquire, screen, and provide preparation advice for interested donors, reducing the number of potential donors who cannot donate and increasing blood supply for the Thai Red Cross,” Mr. Sarit added.
The SROI assessment for the "Friends Donate Blood, Giving Life to Each Other" project has created social value as follows:
1. Blood donors: Receive health care advice, enabling early detection of diseases, which helps reduce long-term health care costs.
2. Volunteers: Experience pride in life and work, enhancing various skills such as communication, event management, and teamwork, while also building social networks.
3. Local businesses or communities: See increased sales due to higher foot traffic and spending in the area, along with the joy of contributing to blood donation efforts.
4. Blood service centers: Experience increased blood supply, saving costs that would have been incurred if they had to source and procure blood independently.
5. Frasers Property Thailand: Fosters employee loyalty to the organization and broadens brand awareness.
Additionally, the operations align with and address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by enhancing access to blood and contributing to overall quality of life, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which unites the business sector, health organizations, social organizations, and the government in supporting voluntary blood donation from the public.
Ms. Sukulthip Keerathiphanthawong, a board member and secretary of the Thai Social Value Assessment Association, provided insights that SROI assessment reveals impacts across all dimensions affecting stakeholders. It serves as a tool to provide a clearer picture of operations, leading to tangible communication of impact issues. The assessment results can be used as data for planning and improving ongoing projects for greater efficiency and as a guideline for developing new projects that have the potential to solve problems and create value for society.

“The Friends Donate Blood, Giving Life to Each Other project by Frasers Property Thailand is a proactive blood donation initiative targeting specific groups, managed efficiently while fostering collaboration with the surrounding community and inspiring volunteer employees to care for society. These efforts create added value beyond traditional blood donation methods, showcasing the distinctiveness of operations that generate social returns for all sectors, serving as a model for other organizations to build upon or expand,” Ms. Sukulthip concluded.
