Nakhon Luang Cement Receives EPD Environmental Label as the First Cement Product in Thailand
Nakhon Luang Cement Public Company Limited, or Insee Cement, is one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of cement under the "Insee" brand. Recently, it has elevated its standards to a global level by obtaining the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Type III (ISO 14025) from The International EPD® System, which is a global EPD program under the global cement standards of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA).
Mr. Montree Nithikul, CEO of Cement Business in Thailand under Nakhon Luang Cement Public Company Limited stated that, “As Insee Cement is one of the leading cement producers in Thailand, we are committed to continuously improving the quality and standards of our products to meet consumer demands while being socially and environmentally responsible. Recently, we have published the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for all 11 products in the Insee cement range.”
“The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) label represents a new standard for construction products, helping environmentally conscious customers access necessary information to consider when choosing cement products. This supports the sustainability goals and processes of organizations committed to genuinely reducing their environmental and social impacts.”
Currently, the construction industry has developed key strategies for sustainability and is continuously innovating products to meet new standards. The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) label specifies product compositions and the environmental impacts throughout the product's lifecycle. The EPD is calculated based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) from raw material selection, production processes, transportation, to usage, in accordance with the Product Category Rules (PCR), establishing a new global standard. All calculations utilize tools developed by the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) based on international standards.

“The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) label is a new standard for construction products, supporting the sustainability goals of each company by considering the environmental impacts of each product chosen. This ensures compliance with leading standards for building and housing development, such as TREES, a Thai energy and environmental sustainability assessment system developed by the Thai Green Building Institute, or the LEED green building standard, including the new LEED-ND standard aimed at promoting environmentally friendly community development and creating sustainable housing for communities. Additionally, the EPD label serves as a quality certification across all industries, recognized for production processes and business development that do not harm the environment and align with the three core ESG principles for sustainable business: Environment, Social, and Governance,” Mr. Montree stated.
Moreover, Nakhon Luang Cement Public Company Limited and its subsidiaries have consistently received the Green Industry Level 5 award for over 10 years. Currently, the Nakhon Luang Cement Group has certified 9 factories under the Green Industry Level 4 and 5 projects and remains committed to expanding its green network, aligning with the corporate value of “Caring... for a Sustainable Future,” which corresponds with the sustainability development goals for 2030 of the Nakhon Luang Cement Group.
