LPP Launches 7 Days No Smoke Campaign: Dare to Quit and Support a Smoke-Free Society
LPP Property Management is committed to creating a smoke-free society by launching the campaign “7 Days No Smoke: Dare to Quit” across over 260 projects under its management. This initiative aims to encourage residents to quit smoking and supports the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) in promoting the “Quit Smoking Hotline 1600.” The goal is to see all Thai people enjoy good health for the sustainable happiness of their families.

Mr. Surawut Sukjareonsin, CEO of LPP Property Management Co., Ltd. (LPP), a comprehensive real estate management company, stated, “As the World Health Organization has designated May 31st each year as World No Tobacco Day, LPP recognizes the importance of quitting smoking, which is a major cause of serious health issues for smokers and those exposed to secondhand smoke, as well as a contributor to environmental pollution. Therefore, LPP has initiated the project “7 Days No Smoke: Dare to Quit” from May 25 to 31, 2023, inviting residents and co-owners in LPP-managed properties to start a 7-day smoke-free challenge to promote better health and reduce the risks associated with smoking.
“We hope that the “7 Days No Smoke: Dare to Quit” project will serve as a starting point for long-term smoking cessation. The 7 days of this project is a personal challenge, and if participants can get through this period, we believe many will continue to quit in the long run. LPP is serious about this project because we care for the quality of life of over 200,000 residents. We wish to see our residents happy and healthy and to extend this goodwill to society, aiming for a smoke-free community in Thailand. We invite the general public to join this project, challenge themselves, and share their smoking cessation techniques through Facebook: LPP Property for a chance to win prizes. The results of this engagement will be the various techniques shared by participants, which we will compile and disseminate to support those who may not have started quitting yet, providing them with ideas and methods to help them quit smoking, benefiting society as a whole,” he added.
In organizing the “7 Days No Smoke: Dare to Quit” project, LPP is pleased to partner with the Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and the National Quitline 1600 to promote policies for a smoke-free Thai society, helping Thai people quit smoking seriously and sustainably. As part of this partnership, LPP plans to campaign and raise awareness among residents of over 260 projects to quit smoking, utilizing the Quitline 1600 service to broaden the project's reach. This will provide those determined to quit or those hesitant about quitting with advice, encouragement, and follow-up support from expert counselors focused on motivation and behavior change to achieve successful and sustainable cessation. Additionally, campaigns and signage will be implemented to educate and manage areas to ensure no smoking in smoke-free zones, allowing all residents to breathe clean air and live quality lives every day.

On this initiative, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jintana Yuniphan, Director of the National Quitline 1600, expressed gratitude for LPP's collaboration in promoting policies to create a smoke-free society for residents across all 260 projects under their management, as well as for community-level campaigns. She believes that with continuous campaigns, many smokers will become aware and cooperate in caring for their health and that of those around them, contributing to a more livable society.
“The Quitline 1600 service is accessible to all groups of people seeking advice without the use of medication or nicotine replacement. It provides counseling for those wanting to quit smoking or for family members and organizational staff interested in helping smokers commit to quitting through a free mobile phone service available every day, including public holidays, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. From 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, only incoming calls are accepted, and messages can be left for a callback between 11:00 PM and 9:00 AM for free consultation. Additionally, the center has developed innovations for those wanting to quit smoking, including a 3-month SMS counseling service or Line Chat counseling, which can be used alone or in conjunction with phone counseling. Research shows that this increases the success rate of quitting smoking,” concluded Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jintana.
Those interested in joining the “7 Days No Smoke: Dare to Quit” campaign can participate through the Facebook Page: LPP Property by expressing their intent and sharing their methods or tips for quitting smoking throughout the 7 days. Even non-smokers can share techniques to encourage their loved ones or close individuals to join the campaign. Participants who share will have a chance to win prizes from LPP, and the techniques shared will be compiled for dissemination to benefit society in the future.
