AWC Signs Agreement with Marriott International to Develop The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside
Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), a Thai real estate developer focused on comprehensive lifestyle solutions, has strengthened its long-term collaboration with Marriott International by signing an agreement to develop and manage The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside. This hotel will be built on the historic grounds along both sides of the Chao Phraya River, encompassing The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination and the surrounding area of Tongsawat, transforming it into a world-class riverside health landmark under the concept of “The River Journey.”
Naowalapa Traisorat, CEO and Managing Director of AWC, stated, “We are very pleased to continue our long-term partnership with Marriott International, a leading global hotel chain, by signing this agreement to develop and manage The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside. This will be AWC's second Ritz-Carlton hotel in Thailand, and the project will enhance the historic riverside area of Bangkok while creating long-term value for the surrounding community and society by preserving the architectural and artistic heritage. Through this collaboration with Marriott, AWC will integrate local history, culture, and valuable architecture with world-class service, incorporating holistic health care and creating sustainable value to elevate this hotel as a destination for Thailand's sustainable tourism industry.”

“The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside is AWC's 20th hotel project in Thailand managed by Marriott International, which will connect with other AWC projects along the Chao Phraya River under the concept of “The River Journey” to create a unique travel experience and a riverside health destination that will attract health-conscious tourists from around the world,” Naowalapa added.
Mr. Sean Hill, Chief Development Officer for Marriott International in the Asia Pacific region, said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with AWC to expand the luxury hotel brand in Thailand. Both AWC and Marriott International share a common vision of providing the highest service standards, and we are proud to play a strategic role with AWC in expanding the service and lifestyle portfolio in Thailand.”
This collaboration with Marriott International follows the signing of an agreement last year to develop “The Integrated Wellness Destination” under the concept of “The River Journey,” after AWC signed a land lease agreement with Wang Lee Company Limited for approximately 64 years at The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination, a historic riverside destination, to create long-term value together for a better future for Thailand's health tourism industry.
The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside will feature a unique design, comprising a total of 166 rooms, including 86 rooms located at The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination, 24 rooms at The Shophouse Tongsawat, and 56 rooms at The Mansion Tongsawat, situated across the Chao Phraya River. Guests will be able to travel between the three areas of the project via a special shuttle boat. The hotel plans to open The Shophouse Tongsawat and The Mansion Tongsawat in the first quarter of 2026, and The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination in the first quarter of 2027.
This hotel is inspired by the concept of Yin and Yang (energy and spirit), which is at the core of “The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination,” a historic riverside destination along the Chao Phraya River, reflecting Thai-Chinese architectural, cultural, and spiritual heritage. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the river, the spirit of “Tongsawat” is conveyed, allowing visitors to experience traditional customs that have been passed down through generations. This will be Bangkok's first luxury hotel that emphasizes sustainability combined with holistic health care.
AWC is one of the largest real estate developers for Marriott International in the Asia Pacific region (excluding the People's Republic of China), with 10 hotels managed by Marriott, totaling approximately 4,000 rooms. It is expected to nearly double its room count with an additional 4,000 rooms from 9 projects planned in Thailand (including The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, The Riverside, for which this agreement has been signed). AWC is committed to maintaining a long-term relationship with Marriott International to create a better future and enhance Thailand's competitiveness as a sustainable tourism destination.
