SCG Logistics Management Co., Ltd. , a leader in comprehensive logistics services in Thailand and abroad, has announced its cross-border transport service business plan, projecting total revenue of 650 million baht in 2022. The focus will be on the Thailand-Laos-China route, aiming to expand business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs by utilizing rail transport, which can reduce shipping costs from factory to destination in China (Door to Door Service) by up to 20%. The company also offers import-export services and customs clearance as a One Stop Service, making it easy and comprehensive in one place.

Mr. Paitoon Jirananrat, Managing Director of SCG Logistics Management Co., Ltd. stated that the company is ready to expand the Thailand-Laos-China rail transport route. Currently, trade between Thailand and China is continuously growing. In 2021, the export value from Thailand to China exceeded 1.2 trillion baht, with cross-border trade valued at 366.97 billion baht, comprising 194.82 billion baht in exports and 172.15 billion baht in imports, utilizing transportation by road, sea, and air. The high-speed rail project connecting Kunming in China with Vientiane in Laos, under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), spans over 1,020 kilometers. Compared to road transport via the Chiang Rai-Kunming route, it can reduce transportation time from approximately 2 days to just 10-15 hours, and compared to sea freight, it can save logistics costs by up to 20% to various destinations such as Kunming, Chengdu, and Chongqing. Additionally, rail transport has the lowest risk of accidents, making this railway route a significant enhancement for the transportation capacity and competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs.

SCG Logistics is also preparing to integrate rail transport with road transport through a Door to Door Service, by picking up empty containers from Laos, loading goods in Bangkok and its vicinity, and then transporting them to the Nong Khai border checkpoint in Nong Khai province. The company will handle the return of heavy containers, customs clearance for export from Thailand, and customs clearance for entry into Laos at the Thanaleng border checkpoint, providing a complete service. Subsequently, goods will be transported by rail to China, with customs clearance for exit from Laos and entry into China, before moving containers to the final station. SCG Logistics can also distribute goods to various provinces across China.

SCG Logistics has partnered with Jusda Supply Chain Management International, a subsidiary of Foxconn, to establish a joint venture called China ASEAN Supply Chain Management (CAS) in 2019, providing comprehensive logistics services focused on southern China and connecting with ASEAN countries. This Thailand-Laos-China rail transport service can accommodate all types of goods, including food products, fruits and vegetables, consumer goods, construction materials, and more. The transport cost for the Thailand-Laos-China Door to Door Service starts at approximately 150,000 baht per FEU. In addition to the Thailand-Laos-China route, SCG Logistics has developed a cross-border transport network by establishing a base and expanding its transport management network in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), which includes Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and southern China, covering everything from export customs procedures to transport vehicles on both the Thai side and local transport.
