The Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) reports the weekly regional economic situation as of March 18, 2022, as follows:
(1) The number of newly registered passenger cars in February 2022 grew by 6.6%
(2) The number of newly registered motorcycles in February 2022 grew by 14.4%

“The consumption of durable goods is reflected in the number of newly registered passenger cars in February 2022, which grew in almost every region, consistent with the growth in newly registered motorcycles across all regions.”

  • The number of newly registered passenger cars in February 2022 was 55,828 units, representing a 6.6% year-on-year growth (seasonally adjusted, it shows an 11.45% month-on-month growth). Details include:
    1) Central Region grew by 13.8% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 3.5% year-on-year, with Chai Nat, Ang Thong, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya showing the best growth.
    2) Bangkok and surrounding areas grew by 11.7% year-on-year from the previous month, which contracted by -19.6% year-on-year, with Nonthaburi, Bangkok, and Samut Prakan showing the best growth.
    3) Western Region grew by 7.1% year-on-year from the previous month, which contracted by -12.7% year-on-year, with Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, and Kanchanaburi showing the best growth.
  • The number of newly registered motorcycles in February 2022 was 163,052 units, representing a 14.4% year-on-year growth (seasonally adjusted, it shows a 5.37% month-on-month growth). Details include:
    1) Southern Region grew by 23.7% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 16.1% year-on-year, with Phuket, Krabi, and Yala showing the best growth.
    2) Eastern Region grew by 23.3% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 20.6% year-on-year, with Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Prachinburi showing the best growth.
    3) Northeastern Region grew by 16.2% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 12.6% year-on-year, with Amnat Charoen, Nong Bua Lam Phu, and Maha Sarakham showing the best growth.
