SCG Ceramics has announced its financial results for the year 2021, reporting a 39% increase in profit driven by domestic sales and exports. The company anticipates a positive economic outlook this year, projecting a business growth of around 5-6%. They aim to invest an additional 400 million baht to expand the production capacity of large tiles while also advancing their energy business.

Mr. Namphol Malichai, Managing Director of SCG Ceramics Public Company Limited stated that in 2021, the company achieved total sales revenue of 11,194 million baht, an increase of 10% from 2020, with a net profit of 584 million baht, up by 164 million baht due to increased sales and land sales in the Nong Kha Industrial Estate. The COVID-19 pandemic remained a significant factor impacting the business, particularly in the real estate sector, where private construction projects were heavily affected. The company has adapted and prepared plans to cope with potential future situations.

For 2022, it is expected that the demand for ceramic tiles in the domestic market will remain at a level similar to the previous year, under the assumption that the overall economy will grow and show positive trends due to various government economic stimulus measures. This aligns with the intense competition in the market from domestic producers and imported products. Factors such as rising energy and oil prices, along with increased product prices due to inflation, may impact consumer purchasing power and pose challenges to economic recovery, likely affecting the ceramics business this year.

In 2022, the company will continue to maintain its competitiveness through various strategies, focusing on cost reduction and improving machinery efficiency to mitigate the impact of rising energy costs. They will also manage inventory levels appropriately by adjusting the sales ratio to markets less affected both domestically and internationally, alongside aligning production levels and imports with demand.

The company is set to invest over 400 million baht to expand production capacity for large-sized tiles and continue upgrading modern trade stores and expanding the retail ceramic tile business, or “Ceramic Warehouse,” continuously in Thailand, along with ongoing expansion in the energy sector. They aim to elevate the development of the Nong Kha Industrial Estate to an Eco-World Class industrial city, while also seeking new opportunities and technologies to enhance production efficiency to prepare for rising raw material and energy costs, ensuring competitiveness and maintaining leadership in the ceramics industry.
