This collaboration marks the first phase of research that will utilize CBD (Cannabidiol) found in hemp and cannabis, known for its properties in reducing anxiety and stress. Dr. Chakrapong Eawtrakul, the head of the medical cannabis research project and advisor at Panacee Hospital, has used this compound to treat patients suffering from stress, insomnia, and dependence on sleeping pills, demonstrating its efficacy in alleviating symptoms. Importantly, this compound also reduces inflammation, making it applicable in COVID treatment, indicating the potential for further research development.
This partnership with various leading organizations aims to promote cannabis and hemp as a new economic crop for Thailand. The collaboration among these three partners begins with uniting and mobilizing experts from all sectors to create cannabis innovations, from technology transfer in cultivation, strain development, and research for medical benefits in both traditional and alternative medicine, driven through community enterprise networks to generate income for farmers and enhance local value. Importantly, they will also collaborate in producing essential extracts while ensuring quality control, allowing the public to access cannabis and hemp safely and according to standards.
Mr. Udom Wang, Managing Director of Nusa CSR Co., Ltd. and executives from Cannabis Global Co., Ltd., stated, "Currently, hemp and cannabis are being developed in various aspects, including public health, medicine, and many other essential areas of daily life. The company has the potential to open markets internationally, recognizing that products derived from cannabis and hemp can be researched and developed into numerous applications beyond medicine. We aim to produce not only for the Thai market but also to expand into the global market, and we want to be part of supporting this collaboration."
