On January 20, the Royal Gazette website published the royal command for the enactment of a royal decree (Royal Decree) to reduce land and property taxes for certain types of land or properties. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-o-cha acted in response to the royal command, stating:

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun issued this decree on January 18, 2020, in the fifth year of the current reign, proclaiming that it is appropriate to reduce land and property taxes for certain types of land or properties.

Exercising the powers under Section 175 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand and Section 55 of the Land and Building Tax Act B.E. 2562, His Majesty graciously commanded the enactment of this royal decree.

The reasons for issuing this royal decree include the necessity to reduce land and property taxes for certain types of land or properties to align with the economic and social conditions, events, operations, or local circumstances, thus necessitating the enactment of this royal decree.
