Mr. Prapas Kongyad, Director of the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) revealed that Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak chaired a meeting to monitor and expedite the disbursement of investment budgets for state enterprises, along with executives from 19 major state enterprises and affiliated companies to receive policies aimed at accelerating budget disbursement in line with set targets, thus continuously stimulating the economy in 2020.

      During the meeting, Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister instructed state enterprises to expedite the disbursement of their investment budgets continuously, urging them to prioritize early disbursement for projects that can be implemented sooner (Front-Loaded). He also emphasized the need for state enterprises to accelerate disbursement for projects with high import content or investments abroad. Additionally, the meeting set a target for 45 state enterprises and affiliated companies to disburse no less than 100 billion baht in the first quarter of 2020 (January – March 2020).

      In 2020, state enterprises have a total investment framework of 345.141 billion baht, which includes a budget framework of 199.978 billion baht for the fiscal year and 145.163 billion baht for the calendar year. Significant large-scale investment projects include the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project, the Red Line electric train project, the double-track railway construction project by the State Railway of Thailand, the Orange Line electric train project from Cultural Center to Min Buri by the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, the development of Suvarnabhumi Airport by Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited, the development of the Bang Pakong power plant by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Phase 1 development of the transmission and distribution system by the Provincial Electricity Authority, and the 12th Power Distribution System Improvement and Expansion Plan (2017 – 2021) by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority.
