Bangkok, Thailand ––  PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards 2019 is the platform for identifying the best real estate developers in Thailand, now in its 14th consecutive year, announcing a partnership with Right To Play, a Canadian charity dedicated to creating opportunities for underprivileged children in communities worldwide, based on the concept of “building a better and safer world through the power of sports and play”. This collaboration elevates the value of Thailand's largest real estate competition and introduces the “Mini Heart” project to share kindness with the Mae Sot refugee camp in Thailand.

Right To Play is a global organization that harnesses the power of play to enhance education and empower disadvantaged children, aligning with the United Nations' recognition of play as a fundamental right for every child. This initiative helps children in over 20 countries develop essential life skills and a better future through sports and games. Founded in 2000 by Johann Olav Koss, a former Olympic gold medalist and social entrepreneur, the organization is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with national offices worldwide, including Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Africa, the Middle East, South America, and Thailand. It employs around 600 staff and has over 13,500 volunteer coaches. In Thailand, the Right To Play Foundation consists of more than 30 local and international staff with extensive sports experience, using play to teach important life lessons and develop skills such as leadership and teamwork. For example, playing football can teach children about acceptance and peace, while playing tag can educate them about malaria.

This year, Right To Play has collaborated to strengthen the criteria for the social responsibility award at the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards 2019, aiming to identify developers who excel in various social responsibility areas such as CSR, sustainable development, design and construction, community building, customer care, and public facilities.

Kamolphat Saengkit, Country Manager of DDproperty, the official real estate website for the awards, stated, "The real estate market in Thailand is becoming increasingly diverse and complex for investors. In addition to focusing on stable growth, it is essential to maximize satisfaction for all stakeholders while also being socially responsible. The real estate business is directly related to housing; if society progresses sustainably and tangibly in education, youth development, social and environmental aspects, as well as religion and cultural arts, it will lead to sustainable growth in the real estate sector. Various activities can promote and support sustainable social and environmental practices, such as designing homes with a nature-friendly concept, energy conservation, and reducing global warming, constructing projects along the subway lines for easier commuting, reducing traffic hours, and assisting nearby communities at local, regional, and national levels."

Emma Gray Head of Marketing for PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards stated, “This collaboration benefits the real estate development industry and operators, marking a transformation of the competition platform into one of greater value. With the intensified social responsibility awards for developers in Thailand and Asia, we believe that supporting the announcement of social awards will set an example and promote excellence in the overall Thai real estate industry.”

Meanwhile, Amh De Loghry Director of Right To Play Asia stated, “Right To Play will set the criteria for the special community-building award for the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards 2019, reviewing submissions, selecting winners, and presenting awards at this year’s grand ceremony. We aim to establish a long-term relationship with PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards to create activities that everyone can participate in throughout the year to support our social organization.”

Additionally, the “Mini Heart Project” has been launched to encourage hotel and resort guests to share kindness with the Mae Sot refugee camp. Currently, many hotels and resorts provide portable amenities for guests included in the room rate, such as shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, body lotion, combs, razors, etc. However, most guests often do not use or leave these items behind at the hotel. Therefore, it would be better to donate these items to the migrant labor community in Mae Sot, which is in dire need of them.

The PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards 2019 will cover projects nationwide, including Bangkok, Samui, Hua Hin, Khao Yai, the Eastern Seaboard, Phang Nga, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, the Northeast, and the South of Thailand, featuring various awards in categories such as design, architecture, interior design, and landscaping. There are also open categories for hotels, retail businesses, and offices, as well as special awards for social responsibility. The gala dinner for the awards will take place on the night of August 9, expecting over 1,000 attendees, making it one of the largest real estate industry events in Asia.

Nominations for various projects are now open for both companies and individuals. For more information, email [email protected] or visit AsiaPropertyAwards.com.
