Magnolia Corporation Invests 70 Million Baht to Launch 'Forest Rescue' Campaign, Reinforcing the Value of Nature in Creating Human Happiness
Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) is a property development, investment, and management company that owns and develops quality residential and mixed-use projects, including THE FORESTIAS. The company is emphasizing the importance of nature and the world's ecosystems by investing over 70 million baht to launch the 'Forest Rescue' campaign, an operation to save trees around Bangkok and its vicinity, raising awareness about the value and significance of nature through video content. They have also opened channels for reporting tree assistance throughout Bangkok and its surroundings via www.facebook.com/theforestias or the hashtag #ForestRescue. Additionally, a specialized team of experts will survey areas, relocate, and rehabilitate trees with the help of highly experienced ecologists, providing a public green space within THE FORESTIAS for trees to find refuge in a 3-rai area (4,800 square meters).

Ms. Sasinan Allmand, Executive Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) stated, "Today, organizations worldwide are placing importance on natural ecosystems as they significantly impact large populations. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which has been collecting information since 1990-2015 through satellite imagery, the world has approximately 3 trillion trees. The assessment indicates that since 1990, the world has lost 1.3 million square kilometers of forest, an area larger than South Africa. This means that every hour, forest area equivalent to 800 standard football fields (7,140 square meters each) disappears. Particularly, tropical forest areas are losing more rapidly than other parts of the world. In Thailand, the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation reports that currently, forest cover is at 31.58%, a decrease of 0.02% or about 65,000 rai since 2015, which is a concerning situation."

This aligns with the organization's commitment 'for all well-being,' which starts from the intention to create the best living conditions that positively impact all aspects of life. We aim to be part of the world through nature-conscious design, incorporating new innovations in project development to create a quality society, as well as participating in environmental conservation for the better living of everyone in the future. This includes creating environments for coexistence among four generations, ensuring nature coexists with human life while using energy efficiently, and producing quality work that is safe, meets customer needs, and enhances community livability for the foundation of future generations of Thais. We emphasize research to understand human needs and behaviors, applying knowledge in design with technology and innovation, focusing on creating good living conditions and sustainability, leading to the creation of the flagship project “THE FORESTIAS.” This is the first model of living harmoniously with a balanced ecosystem for sustainable happiness under the concept 'Imagine Happiness.' Recently, we have invested over 70 million baht to launch the campaign “Forest Rescue,” an operation to save trees around Bangkok and its vicinity, which is one of the flagship project's missions aimed at preserving tree life through relocation and allocation of space to provide a new home for trees to continue growing in the future."
Mr. Kittiphan Uiyamapan, Senior Director at Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) stated, "THE FORESTIAS is born from the question, 'What is the true happiness of our lives?' We have created a sustainable happiness model through the world's first comprehensive mixed-use project based on four major concepts, or Eternal 4: 50 Shades of Nature, happiness in living amidst a large ecological system; Connecting 4 Generations, happiness in designing warm spaces for families to live together across four generations; Community of Dreams, happiness in shared spaces and public utilities for everyone to engage in activities together; and Sustainnovation for Well-being, happiness through technology and innovation for sustainability, reinforcing human happiness living amidst a perfect nature. The campaign “Forest Rescue” started and operates with the perspective of wanting to help and conserve large trees, increasing green spaces and oxygen areas in urban society. Currently, many large trees often fall victim to development projects such as road construction, buildings, and public utilities, leading to the degradation of urban ecosystems and diminishing their ability to provide fresh air. In some areas, large trees are in poor health due to lack of care, with dead branches, cavities, and risk of falling, posing dangers to pedestrians and nearby buildings. To manage this effectively and swiftly, “THE FORESTIAS” has established a task force called the Forest Rescue Team, consisting of highly experienced ecologists, tree caretakers (arborists), and specialists who will survey areas around Bangkok and its vicinity to plan and assess situations, relocating trees from their original locations to new ecological homes. They have also opened communication channels for reporting tree assistance via www.facebook.com/theforestias or the hashtag #ForestRescue. The project is set to run for six months, starting today until December 31. All rescued trees will be integrated into the ecosystem within the “THE FORESTIAS” project on a 3-rai area (4,800 square meters), with each rescued tree marked to indicate its original location, allowing former owners or the public to visit, relax, or learn about the natural ecosystem. This area will be opened as a public space for everyone to visit free of charge.

For public relations communication, the company has produced a video content titled “Forest Rescue,” which presents a perspective through the true story of a Rain Tree on Soi Ladprao 110, which was originally part of a home that needed to expand its living space, necessitating the relocation of the tree. They contacted the team for assistance in relocating the tree instead of cutting it down, to a new location within the “THE FORESTIAS” project, showcasing the bond between humans and trees that few people are aware of. Additionally, they have strategized communication primarily through online channels, such as social media (Facebook), online articles, television programs, print media, and others to quickly reach target audiences with information and details about the campaign, while raising awareness of the importance and benefits of trees to humanity. The company has established criteria for tree assistance, considering the survival of trees after relocation as a priority, with the Forest Rescue Team experts evaluating the specified conditions, such as tree type: must not be invasive alien species like Acacia, which reduces biodiversity due to rapid propagation, or fast-propagating trees that are difficult to control and may impact ecosystems, such as Bodhi trees, Banyan trees, and Tamarind trees; relocation must consider the original climate conditions of the tree being assisted to minimize stress from relocation; tree care management: donated trees will be under the project's care, and former owners can visit once the project is completed; and other limitations: must be privately owned trees, not public or government property, and the notifier must be the tree owner or have written permission from the owner to participate in the project. For tree relocation, species must be considered due to different limitations for digging and relocation, such as season and appropriate methods, and the decision to assist trees will depend on the discretion of THE FORESTIAS experts.
The company hopes that through communication about the importance of trees and ecology, it will encourage Thai people to recognize the value of nearby green spaces and cherish and conserve them for future generations.
