Bangkok, May 2, 2018 – The Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage and TTF International Co., Ltd. jointly opened Architect '61 (Architect Expo 2018) themed “Beyond Ordinary: Not Ordinary” under the concept of Vernacular Living, which focuses on creating local architecture within the contemporary lifestyle of Thai society on the global stage. This event is the ultimate gathering of technology and innovation for the construction, design, and decoration industries, expected to stimulate the construction product market by over 10 billion baht in the second half of the year. The event runs from today until May 6 at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.

Mr. Atchaphol Dusitnanont, President of the Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage, stated, “The Architect Expo is the largest exhibition of architecture, materials, and construction technology in the ASEAN region, initiated by the Association of Siamese Architects since 1986. This year marks the 32nd edition, with the main objective of showcasing the potential and presenting advancements in architecture across all professional fields. The exhibition features innovative products and construction technologies, materials related to architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. Architect '61 includes numerous interesting exhibitions and activities, international seminars, and various services prepared by the Association for members and the general public.

Mr. Phumi Supakijjanusanti, Chairman of the Construction Subcommittee for Architect '61, discussed the details of this year's event, stating, “The theme for this year’s event is Vernacular Living under the title “Beyond Ordinary: Not Ordinary”, emphasizing the creative process of local architecture and design within the contemporary lifestyle of Thai society. Currently, local architecture is being challenged by globalization, climate change, and the shift from rural to urban society. Architect '61 'Not Ordinary' focuses on how local architecture responds to these changes through various exhibitions and activities at the event.

Mr. Supaman Markha, Deputy Managing Director of TTF International Co., Ltd., the event organizer, stated that this year’s Architect '61 aims to elevate the international standard of the event for both exhibitors and attendees, reinforcing its position as the leading platform for construction product innovation in ASEAN. The response from leading Thai brands has been very positive, with international companies participating increasing by over 35% compared to last year, including from Asia, Europe, and America, such as China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Australia, Vietnam, and the Czech Republic, as well as IMAG, a leading company from Germany that organizes construction exhibitions worldwide, showcasing high-level construction product technologies.

“This year, we focus on enhancing the international aspect of the event, both for exhibitors presenting innovative, high-quality products that are unique and diverse from around the world, as well as for attendees from Thailand and the ASEAN region. We expect over 400,000 visitors this year. Besides the value of viewing and purchasing products from around the world in one place, attendees will have the opportunity to meet manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers of construction materials, creating a community that brings together people in the architecture design and construction product sectors to foster creativity and business ideas through Business Matching,” Mr. Supaman added.

In addition to exhibitions and pavilions, the event will also feature a wealth of knowledge shared through various activities, including design competitions, booth contests, student work showcases, product knowledge sessions, workshops, seminars, and discussions. Notably, the international seminar will feature renowned architects from around the world who will inspire creative architectural energy at the ASA Forum 2018. This year’s speakers include David Van Severen, a Belgian architect and founder of OFFICE KGDVS, Yung Ho Chang from Atelier Feichang Jianzhu in China, Han Tumertekin, a Turkish architect, and Manuelle Gautrand, a French architect who recently won the European Architecture Prize. This event promises to be a hub of diverse knowledge.
