MQDC Partners with Autodesk to Develop Construction Management Approaches with the Concept of 'Innovation for Sustainability' in Thailand
Bangkok, April 17, 2018 - Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) and Autodesk have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop sustainable design and construction approaches in Thailand.
As a leader in real estate development, MQDC, along with Autodesk, a leader in software development, will jointly implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to enhance workflows from planning and design to construction, collaborating with various agencies and organizations in Thailand. Additionally, both MQDC and Autodesk will work together to disseminate best practices for architecture, engineering, and construction to foster innovation and improve workflows for optimal and environmentally friendly outcomes.
The approach to developing real estate projects to create 'Innovation for Sustainability' by MQDC, combined with Autodesk's BIM technology, enables MQDC to enhance project quality while reducing resource consumption in construction, saving time, and minimizing environmental impact.
The development of MQDC's 'Smart City' begins with the WHIZDOM 101 project on Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, which is a residential and lifestyle complex under the concept of the Great Good Place. This project serves as proof that BIM technology can transform the real estate industry towards sustainable and efficient design.
Autodesk's software has contributed to the WHIZDOM 101 project by optimizing energy savings and sustainability through various scenario simulations, such as wind direction and drainage patterns. The project is scheduled for completion in 2018 and has received the international AEC Excellence Awards 2017 in the sustainability category for utilizing advanced design tools to reduce energy consumption, making it the first project in Southeast Asia to receive this award.

“Under the concept of 'Innovation for Sustainability', MQDC aims to bring innovations that can lead to sustainability and fulfill the company's mission of 'For all well-being', which seeks to enhance the quality of life for all beings on Earth, not just humans. Through collaboration with Autodesk, we have shared experiences in using BIM software, committed to creating large-scale projects that minimize environmental impact while enhancing quality of life, starting with the WHIZDOM 101 project, a 'Smart City' on Sukhumvit 101,” said Mr. Suttha Ruangchaipiboon, Chairman of MQDC.

“The use of BIM software by MQDC is a pathway towards 'Innovation for Sustainability', encapsulating the future of the architecture and construction industry. Therefore, through collaboration, we hope to promote design excellence and share knowledge and technology to foster innovation and prepare for the highly competitive environment today,” said Mr. Alfred Tan, Regional Director of Autodesk ASEAN.
