On January 30, 2018, Dr. Suradech Waleethitikul, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, Ministry of Labor, announced that the Social Security Office is allowing insured individuals to request a change of healthcare facility once a year. For 2018, there are 237 healthcare facilities participating in the social security program nationwide, consisting of 159 government hospitals and 78 private facilities.

However, the Social Security Office has been informed by several private healthcare facilities that many insured individuals have already requested to use their full rights. Therefore, those wishing to change their healthcare facility during this period should check the list of desired facilities at www.sso.go.th and promptly submit the SSO form 9-02 at any Social Security Office in Bangkok or in provinces across the country, or electronically via www.sso.go.th from today until March 31, 2018.

The Secretary-General of the Social Security Office further stated that insured individuals can use their national ID card to access medical services at the healthcare facilities where they have rights. Therefore, for convenience, it is recommended that employees and insured individuals carry their ID cards and present them when receiving services at healthcare facilities.

In the case of foreign insured individuals, they must present their social security card along with their passport or identification card for non-Thai nationals. Additionally, insured individuals can check their medical rights at www.sso.go.th or call the hotline 1506 at any Social Security Office nationwide, or use the Smart kiosk of the Ministry of Interior. If insured individuals have any questions, they can contact the local Social Security Office or call the 1506 hotline, which is available 24 hours.
