3D Projection Mapping is a new trend that is gaining popularity in shows around the world. Many people may have already seen some Mapping performances.

One of the highlights of 3D Projection Mapping is the combination of technology and art, using projectors to project images onto large surfaces, often on prominent buildings that can be seen from wide angles, like famous skyscrapers around the world.

In addition to the various techniques, the artists who design the works are extremely important. One of the rising groups of artists is Limelight, a European team that has amazed audiences worldwide, backed by awards such as the Jury Choice Awards and The People’s Choice Awards from the largest 3D Projection Mapping competition in the world with their performance “Interconnection.” Recently, they are set to showcase their work in Thailand. But before we see the real thing, let’s take a look at some of their works to whet our appetite.

And soon... for the first time in Thailand!! With a grand phenomenon called "Beautiful Bangkok by Magnolias @Ratchaprasong" (Beautiful Bangkok by Magnolias at Ratchaprasong), a 3D Projection Mapping show on a 60-story building at the Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard (MRB), a new landmark in the heart of Ratchaprasong.

This show is under the concept “Beautiful Bangkok,” where the Limelight artists have drawn inspiration from the lifestyle, culture, and history of Bangkok to create this work. The performance is divided into 4 segments, each lasting 1 minute, starting and ending with the image of the sunrise in one day, including Scene 1 “Nature” from the perspective of Thailand as a country rich in natural resources; Scene 2 “Sunrise” showcasing the vibrant colors of Bangkok in the morning filled with the hustle and bustle of city life; Scene 3 “Traditions” beautifully expressed through the “Hanuman Mask”; and Scene 4 “Nightlife” highlighting the charm of Bangkok at night, renowned worldwide.
