ETDA is set to host the 'Thailand e-Commerce Week 2017' under the theme 'Online, Shall We GO...' to seize opportunities as the e-commerce market waits for no one. This event will cover all aspects of e-commerce, aiming to help Thai people grow through e-commerce, maintain their ASEAN championship, expand into global markets, and create new online merchants. The event will feature an e-marketplace and 'Meet the Buyer' sessions with major international buyers, along with the presentation of the 'Thailand e-Commerce Awards: People's Choice 2017' for the best online business beloved by Thai consumers this year.

Surangkhana Wiyupak, Director of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization) (ETDA), Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, announced that from November 24-26, 2017, ETDA will organize the 'Thailand e-Commerce Week 2017' at the Plenary Hall 1-3, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This event aims to create opportunities and enhance the capabilities of entrepreneurs looking to succeed in e-commerce.

On the first day of the event (November 24, 2017), Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister, will inaugurate the event and deliver a keynote speech on 'How does the National Strategic Plan Support e-Commerce?' The Deputy Prime Minister will also participate in the award ceremony for the 'Thailand e-Commerce Awards: People's Choice 2017' for outstanding e-commerce entrepreneurs.

Additionally, the event will feature speakers from leading companies both domestic and international, including Central Group and Thai Beverage Group, who will share their experiences in the e-commerce market. Notable guests include Opal Panisara, an actress and host who owns the online soap brand 'Oab's Soap,' and Mr. Richard Liu, Chairman and CEO of JD.com, Inc., a major Chinese e-commerce player making waves globally and planning to invest 100 billion baht in Thailand to further support the local e-commerce business.

In 2016, the Thai e-commerce market saw significant growth, with major retail companies and consumers increasingly engaging in e-commerce transactions, reaching a value of 2.5 trillion baht. The highest value was in the B2C e-commerce sector, which has become the number one in ASEAN, reflecting a growing acceptance and demand for purchasing goods through e-commerce channels. It is projected that the Thai e-commerce market will grow to 2.8 trillion baht, an increase of 9.86% in 2017. Therefore, ETDA aims to support both existing and new Thai entrepreneurs to enhance their capabilities and explore new business opportunities, leading to the second consecutive 'Thailand e-Commerce Week' under the theme 'Online, Shall We GO...' to ensure participants seize bright business opportunities in the future.

Moreover, there will be showcases for successful online stores, including SMEs, OTOP products, and items from celebrities such as Mint Chalida, Opal and Dr. Oak, C and Amy, and Teacher Ngao. There will also be a space for SMEs focusing on online marketing to display and sell their products during the event.

Key activities will include international seminars featuring experts from the e-commerce and digital sectors both in Thailand and globally, sharing knowledge and techniques on various aspects of e-commerce, including brand building for digital businesses, digital marketing, and tools to enhance e-commerce businesses to meet the needs and lifestyles of the digital age. Topics will include e-commerce opportunities in the country, the necessity for driving growth, and the challenges of adapting to significant changes perceived by leading organizations in Thailand, creating global opportunities through e-commerce, and the competition in the food service industry in the digital era.

“This year, we aim to support Thai e-commerce entrepreneurs to reach greater markets by organizing business matching activities to connect strong Thai e-commerce businesses with major international buyers, such as importers from China and Hong Kong seeking quality products and services from Thai entrepreneurs. Newcomers will gain knowledge and new business networks, while those considering starting an e-commerce business will be able to begin correctly under the guidance of e-commerce experts,” said Surangkhana.

The 'Thailand e-Commerce Awards: People's Choice 2017' will be awarded to the online business beloved by Thai consumers, selected from public nominations.
