Kasikornbank is excited about its debit card business, which has grown over 30%. The bank is continuing its efforts with the launch of the Kasikornbank Pokémon Debit Card featuring five designs, confident it will attract fans nationwide and enhance convenience in the digital lifestyle by allowing applications through K PLUS. The goal is to issue 200,000 cards within one year, and by the end of 2017, the bank expects to have a total of over 12 million debit cards with a spending value of 70 billion baht.

Ms. Suphanewan Jootrakul, Assistant Managing Director of Kasikornbank, revealed that the debit card market in Thailand has been continuously growing over the past few years. As of August 2017, Kasikornbank had a total of 11.7 million debit cardholders, accounting for a 15.3% market share, with spending through Kasikornbank debit cards reaching 44.9 billion baht, reflecting a 30% increase. This growth is attributed to the policy of transitioning debit cards to chip cards and the government's promotion of using debit cards instead of cash. Kasikornbank holds a 40% market share in debit card spending.

Kasikornbank aims to maintain its leadership in the debit card market, both in terms of the number of cards and spending. The bank will focus on issuing character-themed debit cards that resonate with various target groups. This year, the bank has already launched two character-themed debit cards: the One Piece Kasikornbank Debit Card and the Shin Chan Kasikornbank Debit Card, continuing to dominate the character debit card market with many new designs released over the past six years since the introduction of character debit cards. The latest release is the Kasikornbank Pokémon Debit Card (K-Pokémon Debit Card), which is a highly popular character and a highlight of this year's debit card offerings, thanks to its fan base in Thailand. The mobile game Pokémon Go has seen over 12.8 million downloads since its launch, and there are many fans of Pokémon in various forms, including animation, licensed merchandise, and movies.

Customers who are fans and interested in applying for the Kasikornbank Pokémon Debit Card can choose from five designs when applying through K PLUS, or two designs when applying at bank branches nationwide. They will also receive a premium Pokémon bag. The initial fee and replacement card fee is 250 baht, with an annual fee of 350 baht and a shipping fee of 37 baht when applying through K PLUS. Additionally, those who apply for the Kasikornbank Pokémon Debit Card at the "World of Pokémon" event, a special activity held to launch the card from September 18-19, 2017, at the Fashion Hall, 1st floor of Siam Paragon, will receive an additional Pokémon plush toy, along with a meet-and-greet with Pikachu and friends, and can participate in many other fun activities. The bank is confident that within one year of launching the Kasikornbank Pokémon Debit Card, there will be interest in applying for 200,000 cards, and by the end of 2017, the total number of Kasikornbank debit cards is expected to reach 12 million, with a total spending value of 70 billion baht.

In addition to launching popular character-themed debit cards, the bank has also introduced promotions to encourage spending instead of cash. It offers suitable benefits for the lifestyle of debit cardholders, who typically have lower spending habits, such as special discounts for using GRAB services, movie tickets from SF cinemas for 100 baht, and value meal sets from McDonald's for 100 baht. When spending online, such as at Lazada, customers can receive additional discounts from the store or cashback throughout the year. There are also discounts for hotel bookings of up to 10% from Expedia.co.th and 7% from agoda.com, along with other promotions in collaboration with Kasikornbank credit cards, which debit cardholders will also benefit from. Additionally, there are targeted benefits for different lifestyles that come with cards in partnership with various affiliates, along with chances to win a million baht and other prizes totaling over 67 million baht every month in the debit card lucky draw program under the National e-Payment initiative until May 2018, which plays a significant role in continuously boosting spending through Kasikornbank debit cards.
