Nortis Group is a leader in renewable energy innovation in Thailand, has launched the ‘Solar Lab Box’ (SOLARLAA BOX), a real-time electricity production monitoring technology. This groundbreaking innovation helps save electricity and advances the use of sustainable energy through the solar cell application.

Following the success of the ‘SolarLAA’ (SOLARLAA) application, which simulates solar energy installation and calculates costs, savings, and return on investment, Nortis Group has developed this innovative tool in collaboration with experts from leading universities in Thailand. The ‘Solar Lab Box’ technology allows real-time monitoring of household electricity production, working in conjunction with the SolarLAA application to easily track electricity usage behavior and sustainably reduce energy consumption.

The ‘Solar Lab Box’ features a compact, modern design that is easy to install and use with a ‘Plug And Play’ system. Simply plug it into the home’s electrical control panel, and the ‘Solar Lab Box’ will monitor electricity production and transmit data via a wireless internet connection to the ‘Monitoring Platform’ on the SolarLAA application. Users can access their home’s electricity production data anytime, anywhere on their mobile devices. The first series of the Solar Lab Box has been launched, including ‘Solar Sense’ (S Series), which provides an overview of electricity production for the entire home. Additional series will be introduced throughout 2018, including ‘Solar Momentum’ (M Series), which will monitor electricity usage of individual household appliances, followed by ‘Solar Inspirit’ (I Series), a top-tier technology for detailed and accurate monitoring of electricity production from all types of household devices.

Ms. Praparat Tangkwathana, CEO of Nortis Group, stated, “We are committed to developing renewable energy technologies and innovations that help save energy (Energy Detective Device). Our products and applications are designed to be on a digital platform to support the Internet of Things (IoT) era, where the internet plays a crucial role. We focus on ‘User Friendly’ concepts for easy and convenient use, targeting single-family homes or small organizations, as they represent a large consumer base in the country. We believe that if society becomes aware of efficient energy use, it will help reduce costs for users while decreasing the country’s energy consumption, leading to a sustainable Green Community in the future.”

Professor Worawit Isarangkun Na Ayutthaya, former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Mahidol University and an expert in renewable energy who developed the Solar Lab Box with Nortis Group, said, “The Solar Lab Box is a cutting-edge innovation that brings energy monitoring closer to home. Previously, electricity production monitoring technology was only available in large industries. The advantage of this device is that it allows us to see electricity usage behavior, helping us understand how much electricity is consumed and which appliances are using more electricity than necessary. We can then analyze and manage electricity usage, such as reducing unnecessary consumption, repairing appliances with abnormal usage, or opting for renewable energy sources for electricity production, ultimately leading to savings on our electricity bills.”

Furthermore, the development of various innovations by Nortis Group aligns with government policies and the global awareness of energy conservation. The company aims to encourage sustainable energy use among Thai people continuously and expects to install solar panels on rooftops of homes and commercial buildings both domestically and internationally within 2017, with a total capacity of 30 megawatts, which will save approximately 43 million units of electricity or over 172 million baht.

About SolarLAA (SOLARLAA)

‘SolarLAA’ is an application that provides knowledge about solar energy or solar cells (Solar Cell) for those interested in installation or seeking information about solar cells, available for free without charge. It helps ‘simulate installation’ (Project Design), calculate costs, return on investment, electricity production, and savings from solar energy. It can be used on both the website (www.solarlaa.com) and mobile devices. Additionally, it includes other important platforms such as ‘Chatbot’, a Q&A system for all solar cell installation inquiries available 24/7, ‘Monitoring’, a feature used alongside the Solar Lab Box (SOLARLAA Box) for monitoring household electricity production, ‘Shop’, an online marketplace feature for products related to solar cell installation, allowing users to find information, compare prices, and request full service quotes all within one app. There is also a feature ‘Solar Community’ that will be developed in the near future to provide a space for both users and non-users of solar cells to share experiences and exchange knowledge with each other.
