‘AP Thailand’ Aims to Reduce Carbon Emissions, Partners with ‘BMW Group’ to Launch ‘ChargeNow’ Project Supporting Electric Vehicle Usage
Bangkok (August 17, 2017) – AP (Thailand) Public Company Limited, a leader in real estate development that caters to every urban lifestyle, announced an official partnership with BMW Group Thailand to initiate the ‘ChargeNow’ public charging station network for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the largest in the world, reinforcing its position as a real estate company that continuously develops to keep pace with and lead future lifestyle trends while paying attention to every detail. This commitment extends beyond just housing; it also encompasses the quality of society and an improved quality of life for urban communities. AP aims to guide Thai society towards a carbon-neutral future, starting with the construction of charging stations at AP's condominium projects and expanding to other projects in the future.

Mr. Witakarn Chanthawimon Deputy Managing Director of the Condominium Product Development Division stated, “AP (Thailand) operates under a key strategy called ‘AP Think Different’. We prioritize innovative thinking and sustainable business development. Therefore, we continuously strive to evolve in line with and ahead of future lifestyle and housing trends. Now entering our 26th year, our ultimate goal remains unchanged: to enhance the quality of life for urban residents. We are committed to creating residences that meet every aspect of modern living. We welcome new ideas and alternative lifestyles, including creative use of spaces, to improve the lives of residents. AP (Thailand) views the ChargeNow project as a new dimension of modern living that can genuinely reduce carbon emissions. We are pleased to partner in this innovative initiative to enhance the quality of life for Thai people and lead to a better lifestyle while growing sustainably with nature in the future.”
“Encouraging Thais to adopt electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles will help reduce the country's oil consumption. Switching to electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles can cut oil usage by up to 50%. Reducing oil consumption will also decrease air pollution,” Mr. Witakarn added.

Currently, the ChargeNow project provides public charging stations for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles at over 65,000 locations across 27 countries worldwide, offering convenient and fast charging solutions. In Thailand, ChargeNow stations can be located via smartphones and the website, allowing customers to see which stations are available or in use. Customers will receive a ChargeNow card and can access services at stations conveniently located for them. Monthly billing will be provided, similar to mobile phone bills.
The ChargeNow project will begin accepting pre-registration for owners of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles with AC charging connectors of both Type 1 (SAE J1772) and Type 2 (IEC 62196), regardless of model or brand. Detailed information regarding pre-registration will be provided around the third quarter of 2017.
