The National Housing Authority held a seminar titled "Smart Data City: Transforming Sustainable Urban Development with Data and Technology," with General Supachai Malaniyom, Chairman of the National Housing Authority, presiding over the opening and delivering a keynote speech on "The National Housing Authority and Sustainable Housing Development." Joining him were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnat Jamratjarungphol, a board member of the National Housing Authority, and Dr. Samit Darakorn Na Ayutthaya, an esteemed board member and head of the working group for the National Housing Data Center. They led discussions alongside experts from leading organizations. The Knowledge Management and Innovation Committee, led by Mr. Thaveepong Vichaidit, Governor of the National Housing Authority, along with executives from the National Housing Authority and related partner agencies, participated in this seminar on January 14, 2026, at The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel, Srinakarin, Bangkok.

General Supachai Malaniyom stated that this seminar is part of the National Housing Authority's efforts to drive housing policies and urban development, focusing on using data and digital technology as essential tools to enhance the quality of life for citizens in a comprehensive and sustainable manner. This platform allows experts in urban development to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences regarding urban, community, and housing development based on data, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of data integration among agencies to support the changes in urban society in the digital age. It serves as a crucial foundation for advancing the Smart Data City concept that is suitable for Thailand's context.

The Chairman of the National Housing Authority further mentioned that the National Housing Authority has established a National Housing Data Center to serve as the main mechanism for linking urban database systems and supporting long-term policy planning for housing and urban development. Both public and private sector agencies can utilize this data for effective urban management.

Mr. Thaveepong Vichaidit, Governor of the National Housing Authority, stated that the National Housing Authority will use this seminar to draw lessons, exchange perspectives, and reflect on the challenges of using data and technology in the development of cities, communities, and housing in Thailand. They will seek solutions to promote the use of data for concrete Smart Data City policy planning. Accurate, modern, and interconnected data will enhance the efficiency of planning and management by the government in all dimensions, including housing, transportation, environment, safety, energy use, and public services. At the same time, citizens will receive services that are convenient, fast, targeted, and meet their needs, reducing redundancy, costs, and the time required to interact with government agencies while gaining easier access to essential information for their daily lives.

“Smart cities driven by data and technology aim to enhance the quality of life for citizens, reduce operational costs for the government, and create a sustainable urban economy in the long term. The National Housing Authority will utilize smart city data platforms and the Smart Data Analytics Platform to integrate, analyze, and utilize data securely and reliably for effective and sustainable management of housing, communities, and cities,” Mr. Thaveepong concluded.
