"WHAUP" Appoints "Akkrin Prateungsit" as New CEO to Accelerate Infrastructure and Energy Business Strategy in Line with "WHA Group"
WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited (WHAUP) has entered a new era by appointing "Akkrin Prateungsit" as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. The new CEO aims to continue the policies of WHA Group to drive the growth of the infrastructure and energy business in alignment with the long-term strategic direction of WHA Group.
WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited (WHAUP) announced the appointment of "Akkrin Prateungsit" as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026, to propel the organization's growth strategy in line with the long-term policies of "WHA Group".
Mr. Akkrin Prateungsit, previously serving as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WHAUP, is recognized for his experience and expertise in the infrastructure and energy sectors. His new role as CEO will continue the company's investment strategy comprehensively. Mr. Akkrin will also maintain his position as Chief Operating Officer to ensure the company's operations are carried out continuously and efficiently.
Mr. Akkrin expressed, "I am deeply honored to receive the trust of the WHAUP Board of Directors. As CEO, I will accelerate the growth of the infrastructure and energy business both domestically and internationally, alongside enhancing water management and developing new renewable energy solutions to support the sustainable growth of the organization, in line with WHA Group's policy under the mission 'WHA: We Shape the Future'. Additionally, I will drive the development of innovations and new technologies, such as the use of AI in water and energy management, as well as expanding renewable energy business both domestically and internationally to meet the demand from new clients continuously investing within and outside the WHA Group, particularly in future industries such as electric vehicles, electronics, and data centers."
Water Infrastructure Business
The company aims to enhance long-term water resource security as a critical infrastructure supporting industrial growth through strategies that diversify raw water sources and promote water reclamation to improve resource efficiency, expand service areas beyond industrial estates, and develop value-added water products to create competitive advantages and support sustainable growth.
Electricity Energy Business
WHAUP is moving forward to expand investments in renewable energy both domestically and internationally, covering areas within and outside WHA's industrial estates, focusing on developing diverse energy solutions, such as renewable energy power generation projects under Feed-in-Tariff Direct PPA and various solar project developments, alongside integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enhance the stability and flexibility of the energy system.
Simultaneously, the company is improving operational efficiency by incorporating innovations and AI technologies, such as Solar Anomaly systems for enhanced maintenance and Solar Forecasting systems for advanced energy production planning, which help increase accuracy in management, reduce operational costs, and differentiate from competitors in intelligent energy management capabilities.
Furthermore, the company continues to develop a Peer-to-Peer electricity trading platform and renewable energy certificate trading (I-REC), as well as exploring investments in New S-Curve businesses such as Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies to support long-term energy transition.
For the Data Center customer segment, the company is advancing the development of projects to supply clean and stable electricity, including Direct PPA models through transmission systems (TPA) in accordance with government policies and collaborations with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and PEA ENCOM to develop appropriate electricity systems and sales models that support customers' sustainability goals.
