KBank Partners with SC Asset: First Real Estate Company to Support Homeowners in Using Clean Energy and Earning Income from Solar via GreenPass Platform
Kasikorn Bank, in collaboration with SC Asset Corporation Public Company Limited, is supporting homeowners with rooftop solar installations to register and sell Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) as the first in Thailand through the GreenPass platform, making it easy, fast, and free of charge. This initiative simplifies access to clean energy and the opportunity to generate income from renewable energy for every household, while jointly creating a sustainable clean energy society aimed at the country's Net Zero goal. It is expected to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 2 million kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent annually and cut electricity costs by more than 14.5 million baht per year.

Dr. Krint Boonleewanich, Deputy Managing Director of Kasikorn Bank, revealed that the rooftop solar market, particularly in the residential and SME sectors, is becoming increasingly aware and interested in installing solar power systems on rooftops. This is due to the continuously decreasing installation costs and supportive government policies. It is anticipated that between 2025 and 2035, the number of households with rooftop solar installations will increase by over 100,000 nationwide. Kasikorn Bank has developed the GreenPass platform for the registration and trading of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) to support the public and SMEs in maximizing their income from rooftop solar installations and achieving quicker returns on their investments.

This collaboration between Kasikorn Bank and SC Asset Corporation marks a significant advancement in promoting clean energy use in the real estate sector in Thailand. It supports office buildings, project areas, and residences of homeowners with rooftop solar installations to conveniently and quickly register for REC through the GreenPass platform at no cost. This opens up effective additional income opportunities and reflects the commitment of both organizations to promote the concept of Sustainable Living in a tangible way that can be practically implemented.

Ms. Sudarat Charoenketmongkol, Deputy Managing Director of Sustainable Development at SC Asset Corporation, stated that this collaboration between SC Asset and Kasikorn Bank is another important step in enhancing the use of clean energy in residential projects while creating added value for customers and supporting the establishment of a sustainable energy society. This aligns with the SCero Mission, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100,000 tons by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2065.

SC Asset is the first real estate developer in Thailand to invite homeowners to register for buying and selling REC, starting with over 600 units that already have solar installations, covering both homes and clubhouses in both old and new projects, with plans for continuous expansion in the future. This initiative can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 2 million kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent annually and save nearly 14.5 million baht in electricity costs per year. In addition to residential properties, commercial rental buildings such as SCT Building, Shinawatra 3 Building (headquarters of SC Asset), and The Junction are also participating in this registration, reinforcing the commitment to a comprehensive sustainable energy society under the SCero Mission.
