The PARQ, the first mixed-use lifestyle project in Thailand certified with LEED GOLD® and WELL CERTIFIED™ CORE GOLD, aims to develop smart offices and retail spaces under the concept of "Life Well Balanced." Together with Swoop Buddy and Go Green Girls, they organized the “SWAP UP FESTIVAL” Vol.2, providing a space for everyone to exchange clothes, collectibles, books, and beloved pet items, along with many eco-friendly activities in a warm and inspiring atmosphere, creating a new phenomenon in promoting a sustainable lifestyle.

The event featured numerous activities promoting a sustainable lifestyle that not only provided fun but also helped reduce waste from everyday items and inspired sustainable living. The Conscious Market showcased over 50 eco-friendly shops offering products made from recycled materials, upcycled goods, natural products, and unique crafts, including Circular, One More Thing, Zayan, Hako and Co, Ira Natural, and Good Cha. Additionally, there were workshops to enhance crafting skills from Yip Din Studio, Wamp Co. & Reviv, and Eventide and Lilac, along with art displays made from waste materials by Khun Aeh - Vichulada Pandharanuwong, an artist using her work to raise awareness about waste issues and inspire upcycling. The event also included a Community Talk sharing knowledge and positive perspectives on the topic “SWAP for ALL” Change for the World, Circulate for Us from real environmental advocates from both public and private sectors, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Frasers Property Management Services (Thailand) Ltd., Swoop Buddy, Pan Promotion Co., Ltd., and Decathlon Thailand.

Khun Porphrom Na S. Wikitseth, advisor to the Governor of Bangkok and sustainability executive, stated, “According to statistics from 2023, Thais generated over 26.95 million tons of waste, but only 30% can be recycled due to improper waste disposal methods. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is working to reduce the waste crisis and increase recycling through campaigns promoting waste separation at the source, which aligns with The PARQ's project that has an excellent waste management system. We are also committed to creating new and modern activities that reach the younger generation to see the value of items more. The Swap Up event is a very interesting new format that significantly helps reduce the cycle of clothing waste and fosters a community to promote a circular lifestyle for sustainable environmental change, which aligns with the goals that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is currently advocating.”

Khun Nattanee Wirojphokha, Director of Sustainability Development at Frasers Property Management Services (Thailand) Ltd., expressed gratitude for the positive response to the SWAP UP FESTIVAL VOL.2. “The issue of waste from daily life is becoming more severe each year. The PARQ aims to promote sustainability to create a balance between humans and the environment by properly managing waste, encouraging the project to have designated waste separation points, reducing food waste by installing food waste shredders that convert waste into fertilizer for the plants in the project, and creating various activities to invite everyone to continuously reduce waste. This event was organized to enhance understanding of the importance of reducing waste production and to create an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy helping reduce waste through our activities, changing perspectives on sustainable lifestyles in line with the concept of Life Well Balanced.”

Khun Tina Sutjedi, co-founder of Swoop Buddy, said, “Swoop Buddy emerged from an interest in fashion and textiles, combined with a good awareness of the world, highlighting the impact of the fast-changing fashion industry. Modern technology helps reduce production costs and prices of consumer-friendly products, but it poses a threat to the planet. Over 53 million tons of fibers are used to produce clothing for people worldwide, yet the lifespan of clothing continues to shorten. We are very committed to building a community to drive the concept of supporting second-hand fashion (Circular Fashion Ecosystem) to extend the life cycle of clothing through exchanges. We would like to thank our kind partner, The PARQ, for providing a venue to connect with consumers and enhance understanding because we believe that anyone can be a fashionista without harming the planet, just by swapping.”

Khun Arawan Kittithanoniran, Chief Marketing Officer of Pan Promotion Co., Ltd., spoke about environmental concepts, stating, “When it comes to environmental conservation, many people may feel it is difficult and don’t know where to start. However, we now have tools and various media that provide knowledge and present ways to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle, including creating spaces or communities that cater to the diversity of people, offering options that fit the lifestyles of different age groups. All of this makes environmental conservation easier, which aligns with the intentions of Go Green Girls to connect environmental stories with the lifestyles of the new generation through content that is easy to understand and can be implemented in everyday life, encouraging people to start making changes that lead to long-term sustainability.”

Part of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Teach For Thailand Foundation, and items not exchanged will be forwarded to the Mirror Foundation and Pan Kan by the Yuwapat Foundation, with representatives from all three foundations receiving donations to develop income-generating activities and maximize benefits. The SWAP UP FESTIVAL VOL.2 is another proud achievement for The PARQ in promoting a balanced lifestyle and advancing a circular lifestyle community in Thailand.
