Pruksa Celebrates 31 Years, Partners with 5 Allies to Drive the VON+ Recycle Project, Encouraging Residents of 31 Projects to Sort Waste for a Sustainable Environment
Pruksa reaffirms its commitment to “Live well Stay well” by seizing the opportunity of its 31st anniversary to collaborate with 5 environmental partners to expand the “VON@PRUKSA” project into “VON+Recycle: Uniting to Create a Happy World”. This initiative aims to broaden the types of recyclable waste, enhance waste management efficiency, and invite residents from Pruksa's 31 projects, totaling over 9,666 families, to properly sort their waste to achieve the goals of reducing waste, combating global warming, and creating a livable environment.

Mr. Piya Prayong, CEO of Pruksa Real Estate Public Company Limited, stated that waste is an environmental issue and a cause of global warming, partly due to improper waste sorting. Currently, Bangkok generates about 10,706 tons of waste daily, but only 3,672 tons can be recycled. Therefore, Pruksa, which is committed to creating a happy and sustainable society and environment, has continued its ESG initiatives that integrate environmental, social, and governance aspects. Three years ago, it launched the VON@PRUKSA project to encourage residents to sort and recycle flexible plastic waste, which not only helps reduce environmental impact by decreasing waste but also lowers greenhouse gas emissions. Last year, this project successfully recycled 235 kilograms of plastic, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 205 kgCO2e. On the occasion of Pruksa's 31st anniversary this year, the project has evolved into “VON+Recycle: Uniting to Create a Happy World”, which will expand the types of waste collected and enhance waste management efficiency.
“We are committed to ensuring the environment remains sustainable, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and striving for carbon neutrality by 2050. The VON+Recycle initiative is one of the strategies that will help us achieve these goals and reinforce our commitment to creating a livable environment. We expect this project to recycle over 500 kilograms of waste and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 435 kgCO2e.” Mr. Piya added.
The VON+Recycle project is a collaboration between Pruksa, project juristic persons, and 5 environmental partners, including Recycle Day Co., Ltd., TPBI Public Company Limited, SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited, Titan Innovation Co., Ltd., and B.S. Glass Recycling Co., Ltd. The project has expanded the types of waste collected from just flexible plastic to include 4 categories: 1) PET plastic bottles, HDPE, and PP used for beverages and food packaging; 2) films and flexible plastics; 3) electronic waste; 4) glass bottles. The initiative encourages residents from Pruksa's 31 projects, approximately 9,666 families, to participate in proper waste sorting for recycling through internationally recognized and environmentally friendly processes, with the project set to kick off on World Environment Day, June 5.
Mr. Chanam Chuanich, co-founder and CEO of Recycle Day Co., Ltd. stated, “We are the developers of the Recycle Day application, a platform that connects waste generators, waste transporters, waste disposal entities, and relevant agencies. We believe that managing recyclable waste through an application will create a positive impact on many people in society who are waiting for a better and easier waste management system. For our collaboration with Pruksa in the VON+ Recycle project, we will send waste collection vehicles to pick up waste from residents in Pruksa's projects, then sort the waste and transport each type to recycling facilities. We sincerely hope that the VON+ Recycle project will encourage Thai people to adopt proper waste sorting habits and make waste sorting a part of their daily routine.”
Mr. Sakthisit Borisutthanakul, Chief Marketing Officer of TPBI Public Company Limited and project manager of “VON” revealed, “The VON project is very pleased to be a small part of this initiative to help it grow and manage waste in Pruksa's various projects more comprehensively. The VON project is a strong partner with both Pruksa and Recycle Day, and we believe that if both organizations collaborate, it will significantly enhance proper waste management for the community and the environment. We are very proud to serve as this connecting link.”
