The SCG The Possibilities for Inclusive Green Growth event showcased SCG's green innovations and collaborations both in Thailand and globally. The innovations spanned all business groups, including ‘Green Construction & Smart Living’, which transforms construction into a greener and smarter living experience; ‘Green Logistics’, innovations for environmentally friendly logistics; ‘Green Industry’, innovations for a green industry; ‘Green Circularity’, innovations for endless resource circulation; and ‘Green City’, innovations for fresh air cities surrounded by green spaces and free of waste, inviting everyone to step towards a low-carbon society together.

The global crisis we are currently facing is an urgent agenda that requires all sectors to unite in finding solutions. The cement industry in Thailand has accelerated its production processes and product development to minimize carbon dioxide emissions. The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) has successfully created a roadmap to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap), making Thailand the first country in the world to receive certification from the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA).

SCG Cement and Green Solutions aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 while striving to create a livable low-carbon society for everyone, alongside sustainable business growth that leaves no one behind. This involves green construction throughout the value chain, from green production processes (Green Process), green products (Green Product), to green construction (Green Construction), which will elevate the sustainability of the Thai construction industry. At the same time, homeowners and project owners can contribute to making the world a better place.

  • Green Production Process: Accelerating the use of clean energy in production processes, with the latest cement plants in Thailand increasing the use of alternative fuels to 47%, while also expanding into a new business providing clean fuel services to other industries, such as power plants and boiler factories.
  • Green Products: Focusing on developing environmentally friendly product innovations, such as:
  • Low Carbon Cement (Generation 2): Reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 15-20% compared to international standards, while maintaining strength and durability, with a smoother finish and better compressive strength than standard Portland cement. SCG is the first cement manufacturer in the country to receive certification for low carbon cement.
  • Low Carbon Concrete CPAC: Reduces carbon dioxide emissions by at least 25 kilograms per cubic meter of concrete, equivalent to planting 2.5 trees, while maintaining or improving its properties. It can be tailored to specific site conditions, addressing various applications such as “CPAC Coastal Concrete” and “CPAC Marine Concrete” for southern, eastern, and western regions to protect structures near the coastline, and “CPAC Super Salt-Resistant Concrete” for the northeastern region, which is saline soil, resisting chloride and sulfate penetration.

  • CPAC 3D Printing Solution: A 3D printing technology that allows for diverse, quick designs, reduces labor, saves time, controls costs, and minimizes waste on construction sites. It meets various needs, including decorative works with stylish designs, landscape and sculpture works that can create iconic future spaces, the first two-story building construction in Thailand, and coral reef restoration efforts. To align with sustainable environmental goals, a special cement formula made from natural materials has been developed, emphasizing renewable energy use in production and material science technology to create a low carbon formula specifically for CPAC 3D Printing Solution. This special cement can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 27% per ton, or about 65 kilograms of CO2, equivalent to planting about 7 trees compared to regular cement, making SCG the first manufacturer in Thailand to achieve this.

  • Green Circular: A provider of fuel and raw materials to the industrial sector, promoting the optimal use of renewable resources in collaboration with business, government, and community networks for mutual sustainability. The solutions include 1. Green Waste Management: Solutions for managing industrial waste and by-products to help customers dispose of industrial waste and find ways to repurpose waste and leftover materials into fuel and alternative raw materials. 2. Green Fuel: A comprehensive solution for managing alternative fuels, reducing fossil fuel use, and increasing the use of alternative fuels to 47% for cement plants in Thailand. 3. Green Material: Solutions for managing renewable raw materials and environmentally friendly mining practices, repurposing waste materials and by-products as alternative raw materials. 4. Green Refectory: A comprehensive solution for managing refractory materials.
  • Green Construction: Enhancing construction efficiency while reducing carbon emissions by developing KIT CARBON, a platform for managing carbon dioxide in construction processes, from building design, material selection, to construction methods. Digital technology and BIM (Building Information Modelling) are utilized for assessment, with the key goal of helping projects reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving construction efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
