SCG International Reinforces Its Role as a Global Connector with New Office in Saudi Arabia Targeting Trillion-Dollar Giga Projects, Highlighting Comprehensive and Flexible Supply Chain Solutions
SCG International has officially announced the establishment of its office in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing three strategies to expand its presence in Riyadh and reaffirming its position as a "global comprehensive trade partner leader" while serving as a Global Connector connecting with partners from around the world to tap into future mega-trend markets. The launch was showcased at the Thailand Mega Fair & Festival 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event featured a Panel Discussion on the topic Unleashing KSA’s Growth Potential: The Resilience of Supply Chains in Action, with the honor of opening remarks by Mr. Damp Boontham, Ambassador of the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Mr. Fahad Alhashem, Managing Director of the Real Estate and Construction Sector at the Saudi Ministry of Investment, participated in discussions on the future growth trends of the Saudi economy, alongside representatives from the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thai construction industry entrepreneurs.

Mr. Abhijit Datta, Managing Director of SCG International Corporation Limited, stated that SCG International has opened a new office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to expand business opportunities. SCG International is among the leading Thai companies establishing a branch in Saudi Arabia, recognizing the potential for new investment opportunities in the Saudi and Indian markets, particularly in the rapidly growing construction industry. Saudi Arabia is not only a regional powerhouse with a current economic growth value of up to $118 billion but also has the largest economy in the Middle East, ranking 17th in the world. Furthermore, the “Saudi Vision 2030” policy has led to economic restructuring, reducing dependence on oil, and stimulating investment in the industrial sector, as well as numerous large-scale construction and real estate development projects over the past six years, creating excellent opportunities for open trade and investment with various countries, aligning with SCG International's vision to expand into the SAMEA region (South Asia, Middle East, and Africa).
However, in a rapidly changing world, comprehensive and flexible supply chain management is crucial. Therefore, the key strategies for entering the Saudi market include:
1. “Supply Chain Business” that is ready to manage supply chain issues for partners comprehensively through the promotion of SCG's entire business network, covering construction, building materials, paper & packaging, as well as raw materials and industrial components. There are also plans to transport goods from Saudi Arabia to various countries worldwide and source products from other continents into Saudi Arabia.
2. “Creating Business Partnerships with Thai Partner Companies” to enhance business opportunities between Thailand and Saudi Arabia, such as collaborating with Thai partners participating in the Thailand Mega Fair & Festival.
3. “Seeking Business Opportunities from Large Investment Projects” especially in the construction business, focusing on targeting large-scale construction projects (giga projects).
“We believe that with SCG International's strengths, having over 45 years of supply chain experience, combined with a partner network in over 50 countries, will instill confidence in partners and customers in Saudi Arabia that we can provide quality and reliable sourcing services, along with comprehensive procurement solutions tailored to the specific needs of various industries. This is a key factor in enhancing the potential and sustainable success of business owners,” Mr. Abhijit stated.
Mr. Abhijit also mentioned that SCG International has been committed to driving its business as a leading group in the ASEAN region continuously, with the intention to expand its business internationally, particularly in the SAMEA region. Previously, the company established The Dubai Hub in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to serve as a center for sourcing and transporting goods between the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. Many countries in this region exhibit different market and economic growth characteristics. Therefore, SCG International has developed strategies and leveraged its operational strengths to suit each region, creating opportunities for growth and market entry with maximum efficiency for business operations in 2024.

The initiative aims to position the United Arab Emirates as a supply chain hub driving trade and connecting businesses between countries in the SAMEA region, particularly as business trends are significantly growing. Following SCG International's business collaboration event, CEO Night, with leading businesses in the Middle East earlier this year in Dubai, there has been a positive response and many more business collaborations are planned for the future.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh has clearly demonstrated its potential as a trading partner for SCG International, as the company has helped elevate service delivery and address trade needs for clients with Value-Added solutions that manage the delivery of various products to leading companies in Bangladesh, meeting clients' supply chain business needs from upstream to downstream. As for India, the brand is preparing to launch a lightweight block product (ALC) to the market by March 2024, marking an important step after forming a joint venture.
