After hinting at plans to penetrate a new market segment, specifically condominiums for Pet Lovers—or condos that allow residents to keep pets—at the beginning of 2021, Origin Property Public Company Limited (ORI), a comprehensive real estate developer, has already developed 6 pet-friendly condominium projects across various locations in less than 2 years. They are set to launch at least 4 more projects, becoming a key strategy to reinforce their market leadership in quality condominiums for Gen Y and Gen Z.

Mr. Apisit Sunthornchookiat, CEO of Origin Condominium Co., Ltd., a developer of smart condominium projects under Origin Property Public Company Limited, shared that the consumer behavior of Gen Y and Gen Z has changed significantly from the past, particularly regarding the trend of having children. The younger generation tends to have children later or not at all, opting instead to keep pets, which has become a mega trend known as Pet Humanization—treating pets as family members. This shift has altered lifestyles and housing needs accordingly.

“As a market leader in condominiums for Gen Y and Gen Z, we place great importance on the pet lover condo market to provide a new alternative for consumers. We study consumer insights, what is necessary for living with pets in condominiums, as well as design approaches, while continuously developing projects across various locations,” Apisit stated.

Currently, Origin has developed a total of 6 pet-friendly condominium projects covering various BTS lines throughout Bangkok and its suburbs, including Origin Plug & Play Ramintra, Origin Plug & Play E22 Station, Origin Play Sri Udom Station, and Brixton Pet & Play Phahol 50 Station. Two of these projects have received excellent responses and are sold out: Origin Plug & Play Sirindhorn and Brixton Pet & Play Sukhumvit 107.

With an understanding and care for pet lover customers, Origin has created three key offerings to win over this market:

1. Pet Lover Design: Designed with materials that consider the lifestyles of both humans and pets, such as pet joint-friendly areas, a 2-in-1 pet console shelf that can be converted into a pet house, scratch-resistant furniture, low faucets for bathing pets, air-tight rubber door frames to minimize noise from pets, and CCTV for owners to communicate and monitor their pets in real-time.

2. Pet Solution: Common areas that cater to the lifestyles of both people and pets, such as a Cat Club, Dog Yard, Walking Track, Pet Park, and additional pet care services within the projects, including Pet Taxi, grooming services, Pet Hotel, Pet Concierge for pet sitting, and transportation to veterinary hospitals. They are also preparing to open a pet clinic under Origin Healthcare next year.

3. Pet Privilege: Origin collaborates with Thonglor Animal Hospital to offer special privileges to residents, such as automatic Gold Member status, discounts on pet health check packages and various services, as well as organizing pet lover activities, health checks for dogs and cats, rabies vaccination services for residents, and consultations on proper pet care from veterinarians at Thonglor Animal Hospital.

“In addition to condos that allow pets throughout the building, in some low-rise condominium projects, we also offer a mixed option, dividing the spaces to include both pet-friendly and non-pet-friendly buildings. Moving forward, Origin plans to launch at least 4 more condominium projects for Pet Lovers in locations such as Ramkhamhaeng and various areas in Thonburi to meet the needs of consumers in this market across all locations and is prepared to continuously develop new offerings for this segment.
