"Home Builder Association" collaborates with Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Engineering to develop "Residential Construction Standards" to enhance the quality of home building services, reinforcing consumer confidence, with plans to implement by the end of this year.

Mr. Worawut Kanjanakul, President of the Home Builder Association (HBA) stated that the home building market this year is expected to grow to a value of 13 billion baht, targeting customers looking for homes priced at 10 million baht and above, both in Bangkok and its vicinity. The expanding home building business, coupled with past issues where customers faced problems with contractors abandoning projects or failing to meet standards, has prompted the association to enhance quality for member companies.

In 2020, the association collaborated academically with the Department of Civil Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, along with other relevant private sectors, to establish a working group to study and develop the "Residential Construction Standards". The objective is to create standards that elevate the work of Home Builder Association members and build customer confidence to increase business growth.

Over the three years of developing the "Residential Construction Standards", the Home Builder Association has studied construction issues from case studies of its members to compile standard control formats and existing work standards. This process involved drafting standards based on quality assurance principles and adjusting them to align with member operations through collaborative meetings with various experts.

This standard will specify information about the operators and their responsibilities, preparation of materials and equipment, work procedures, quality checks, corrections, and precautions, specifically designed for home construction work for association members, with plans to announce its implementation by the end of this year.

Associate Professor Dr. Thanit Thongthong from Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Engineering stated as a development advisor that the advancement of the home construction industry requires work standards to help contractors improve their processes and reduce potential errors from workers. Since home construction is a skilled trade requiring expertise and management to ensure quality meets project owners' expectations, these standards will also instill confidence in project owners regarding the work of home building contractors.
